Evansville, July 14, 1893
After several days of intense suffering with that terrible disease diphtheria, little Dorethia Colton, about eight years of age, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. E. P. Colton, passed away this morning into a better home of less suffering, but still believing all this, it is hard, terrible hard, to part with such bright promising little ones as Dorethia and none but those who have suffered a similar experience know how deep the feelings of sympathy go out to these suffering parents from their hosts of friends in this city. A short quiet funeral service was conducted by Rev. W. W. Stevens at the house this morning and the precious remains, in a snowy white casket, was borne on the laps of the weeping parents to their last earthly resting place in the Evansville cemetery.
