Mrs. Emma Van Patten, who for many years has been a resident of this city at her home at 78 South Second Street, departed this life at the home of her adopted daughter, Mrs. Will Stryne, two miles northwest of this city, last Monday, after several months of suffering with heart trouble. The deceased was seventy eight years of age.
Mrs. Van Patten has long identified with the Methodist Episcopal Church, of this city, its ladies aid and the Woman's Christian Temperance Union, in all of which she was an active and consistent worker.
The deceased leaves to mourn her loss, one son, Fred, Pacific Beach, California; her daughter, Mrs. Styne; several grandchildren; three sisters, Mrs. Letitia Lee, Milwaukee, Mrs. Helen Walton, Black Earth and Mrs. Marion Van Patten, Iowa, and two brothers, one in Rockford and one in the West.
The funeral will be held at the M. E. Church Friday afternoon at 2:00 o'clock, the Rev. Saunderson in charge. Interment will be in Maple Hill Cemetery.
