The Cherokee County Genealogical Society is scheduled to meet at 7:00 p.m. Monday, April 11, 2011, in the dining room of Bonner Place, 421 South Bonner, in Jacksonville, Texas, according to society president, Harold Acker. The program will be presented by a society member. The topic will be announced later.
Bonner Place is a nursing home facility located in the old small former hospital building about one block south of the old Discount City building in downtown Jacksonville.
The Cherokee County Genealogical Society regularly meets the second Monday night of the month, September through May.

Bring a picnic finger food item for a light supper after the meeting. (Sandwiches, chips, veggie snacks, cookies, soft drinks, etc.) Coffee is provided.
Discuss your research problems and get free help, whether beginner or advanced, from other members during the social and refreshment hour following the business meeting and program.
The Jacksonville Public Library, located only a few blocks from Bonner Place, is where the main county genealogy research materials are housed. Monday hours are from noon to 8 P. M. There are several brand name fast food eating places across the street from the library.
At this April meeting new officers are expected to be elected. New officers will be installed at the May 9th meeting. At the society’s March meeting a new slate of officers for the September 2011-May 2012 operating year was presented by nominating committee chairman Gordon Bennett.
Society members will be reporting on the success of the Saturday, March 26th, Genealogy Research Day held jointly with the Angelina Genealogical society at the Rube Sessions Memorial Library in Wells. The CCGS made an in-kind donation of $200.00 value of books published by the society to the development of the genealogy and family history section being developed by the RBML Librarian Mrs. Ellen Hamlett. At the Genealogy Research Day society members assisted Mrs. Hamlett is setting up and cataloguing additions to the collection. Donations to the library’s new vertical file are still being sought Mrs. Hamlett said.
