I could not find Darlene's obit, but found her brothers.
Richland Center - Walter M. "Jim" Turk joined his forever love in heaven on Friday, Aug. 19, 2011.
Walt, born Jan. 11, 1923, was a proud member of the 101st Airborne who survived two combat jumps and a stay in Bastogne to return home and marry his soulmate on Valentine's Day 1946. Retired from working for the Richland County Highway Department, Walt did crossword puzzles, enjoyed trips to casinos, and along with his wife, son and daughter-in-law, revisited France and the memories of World War II.
A member of American Legion Post 308, Walt is survived by a daughter, Sharon (Chris) Zales of Richland Center; two sons, Paul (Katharine) Turk of Gays Mills, and Edwin (Linda) Turk of Wausau; six grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Walt was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Clarice; his parents, Earl and Olive Turk; his brother, Deward; and his sister, Darlene (Ray) Hayden.
Funeral Services will be held at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 23, 2011, at the PRATT MEMORIAL CHAPEL. Pastor Bill Busch will officiate and burial will be in the Richland Center Cemetery where military graveside rites will be accorded. Friends may call at the PRATT MEMORIAL CHAPEL on Monday, Aug. 22, 2011, from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. or on Tuesday morning from 9 a.m. until service time at 10 a.m.
The family requests that any donations be made to the American Legion or to a charity of choice. The Pratt Funeral Service is assisting the family with arrangements. Online condolences may be made at prattfuneralservice.com.
