Deceased Name: REEP Dale Reep
REEP Dale Reep, 91, a lifelong resident of Ohio, passed into eternal peace with his Lord on September 10, 2012, with his family by his side. Born January 3, 1921 in Morgantown to the late George and Maggie (nee Morris) Reep he moved with his family to Grove City, where he graduated from Jackson Rural High School in 1939. He worked at several jobs and was good at fixing things, especially mechanical devices. In 1941 he entered the US ARMY serving as a motor pool mechanic stationed in Trinidad. While serving the country he loved, he met the love of his life, Alwilda (Will) Short. Having somehow convinced her to say yes, Corporal Dale Reep and 2nd Lieutenant Will Short were wed in a ceremony conducted on base in Louisville, Kentucky on 23 September 1945. He never forgot nor failed to joke that she always out ranked him. After the war they relocated in the Linden area of Columbus, where they were to stay for the next 60 years. They had a daughter, Jacklyn Dayle and two sons, Jerry Alan, and Jeffrey Brian. Dale worked as a parts finisher at the General Motors - Fischer Body plant on W. Broad St for over 30 years. He took an active role in raising his three children embedding in them the principles by which he lived: hard work, honesty, respect for country, others and then yourself, and the value of a dollar. He enjoyed the outdoors and hunted with Jerry when he could. He taught us all how to fish and was a very good bowler. He had an uncanny and very irritating habit of striking out in the 10th frame to beat you every time. He was also the only father on the block that would go outside and throw the softball, football or Frisbee around the circle to his and all the other neighborhood kids. Dale and Will moved to an assisted living complex in Westerville, before the effects of Alzheimer's disease devastated them both. They then moved to Green Bay, Wisconsin to be closer to Jeff and Robin and their family to care for them as their health declined. His final days were spent in Shawano, Wisconsin until he fell asleep in the arms of his Lord. Dale was preceded in death by his son Jerry, and by Will, his wife of 63 years. He is survived by a brother, Paul Reep of Dover, Ohio; daughter, Jacky Reep and Bob Horn of Glendora, California; son, Jeffrey and Robin Reep of Bonduel , Wisconsin, daughter-in-law, Jennifer (Brinkman) Reep of Westerville; grandchildren, Jessica Reep, and Samantha (Mark) Andis of Columbus, and Megan Reep, Mallory Reep, Michael Reep, and Matthew Reep, all of Wisconsin; and great-grandchildren, Sophia Andis, Gaberiel Andis, and Callie Bowman, all of Columbus; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. He will be sadly missed. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to an Alzheimer's research facility of your choice to find a cure for this devastatingly cruel disease. Services for Dale are to be held at the SCHOEDINGER NORTH CHAPEL, 5554 Karl Rd., Columbus, Ohio with visitation on Monday, September 17, 2012 from 5-8 p.m. A service will be held on Tuesday, September 18, 2012 at 10 a.m. followed by interment at Union Cemetery on Olentangy River Rd. in Columbus, Ohio.
