Grant A. Stoehr
Grant A. Stoehr, 84, of the town of Richmond, passed away Tuesday, Feb. 12, 2013, in Shawano.
Born on April 8, 1928, in the town of Herman, he was the son of the late Michael and Emma (Heins) Stoehr. After graduating from Gresham High School, Grant enlisted with the United States Army and served his country with the Artillery Division during the Korean War. On Sept. 14, 1954, he was united in marriage to Dolores M. Hoeft in Wausau. The couple made their home in the town of Red Springs where they owned and operated a dairy farm and raised their eight children. When not tending to his farm and family, Grant enjoyed hunting and bowling. He also enjoyed baseball, whether it was watching the Chicago Cubs or coaching the Gresham Little League team. Grant was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints Shawano Ward. He was also a member and former chaplain of the Gresham American Legion and past member of the Gresham Lions.
Grant is survived by his wife of 58 years, Dolores; his eight children, Peggy (Larry) Gorman, of Texas, Charlene (James) Labiszak, of Ohio, Paul (Chris) Stoehr, of Wisconsin, Steve (Lorraine) Stoehr, of Colorado, Scott (Gail) Stoehr, of Wisconsin, Lorie (Jack) Rogers, of Utah, Jodie (Kevin) Gilding, of Wisconsin, David Stoehr, of Wisconsin; 25 grandchildren; 31 great-grandchildren; a brother, Delroy (Linda) Stoehr, of Wisconsin; and a sister, Joyce (Joe) Miller, of Utah.
Grant was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Audrey; and two sisters, Eleanor and Muriel.
Funeral services will be held at 12 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 16, 2013, at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints Shawano Ward with Bishop Michael Williams officiating. Burial will be in the Roosevelt Cemetery in the town of Seneca. Visitation will be held at the church on Saturday from 9:30 a.m. until the time of the service.
