CHRISTJOHN, MARGARET J. Obituary
Funeral services will be held here at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 12, at Hemer Funeral Home for Mrs. Margaret J. Christjohn, 68, Chicago, a former Medford area resident who died early Saturday morning of an apparent heart attack at her Chicago residence.
Rev. Samuel Robbins, pastor of Community United Church of Christ, will officiate and burial will take place in Evergreen Cemetery. Grandsons will serve as pallbearers.
The former Margaret J. Hommel was born February 21, 1914, at Milwaukee. She moved to the area as a child and attended the Medford area schools.
Her marriage to Joseph W. Hasseldick, who preceded her in death October 2, 1951, took place in December 1936 at Waukegan, Ill. She was married in 1964 at Milwaukee to Vernon Christjohn, who died in 1972.
After her marriage she and her first husband had farmed in the Town of Deer Creek until his death. She then owned and operated the Black Bear Tavern at Medford from 1952 until 1955 when she moved to Stevens Point where she owned and operated a laundromat for one year. Later she lived and worked at Milwaukee and then moved to Chicago where she was employed as a payroll clerk with the Red Cross Macaroni Company, retiring in 1980. She was also an avid bowler at Chicago.
Mrs. Christjohn was former member of Community Church of Christ.
Survivors include a son, Donald Hasseldick, Mequon; a daughter, Ruth, Mrs. Wayne Schabel, Rib Lake; a brother, John, Milwaukee, seven grandchildren and three great grandchildren.
