The birthplace of Hosea HUNT on the FamilySearch database of the 1880 census seems to be incorrect. RootsWeb says Hosea HUNT was b. 9 Je. 1806, Brattleboro, Windham, VT, s/o Hiel HUNT, b. 29 Jan. 1782, Lebanon, CT, & Anna BLANCHARD (15 July 1783 - 23 Dec. 1834). Somebody must have abbreviated Vermont as VA instead of VT. Hosea died 1 Apr. 1884, Venice, Seneca Co., OH. On son Cyrus' marriage certificate, his mother was listed as Permelia, and on his death certificate she was listed as Mandia. A SUTTON file lists her as Pamela. That file says she was born 28 July 1810, Fayette Co., PA, & m. [13/28?] Sep. 1829, Huron Co., OH, Hosea HUNT. Her death date needs to be checked because it's listed in the SUTTON file as 1892, but it also says Hosea married Sarah 3 Jan. 1842. Hosea & Parmelia had Mary Louisa, b. 12 Nov. 1841. The courtship must have been on the return from the cemetery if they married six weeks later. [The marriage was probably later.]
USGenWeb > OH > Huron County: Early settlers of Ridgefield Twp., Huron Co., OH included Seth BROWN, 1812; Joseph F. READ, 1814...Hial HUNT, 1818. Children who attended the first school, in Monroeville, included...Hosey & Almon HUNT. The first teacher was George BURT, who was paid $10 a month. The census included Jonathan HUNT in 1820. Hiel HUNT was still of Huron County in 1840. A Huron Co. plat book about 1845 listed Hiel HUNT, Lyme T., & J. HUNT, Fairfield Twp.
