The following is what I have been able to conclude about this branch of the Gorsline's from the information shown in the 1850 census posted earlier:
1808 puts the family in NY, where Marvin was born.
1813 puts BF Goseline in NY, but we are not sure he is connected. However, this fits with the timeframe for the others.
1816, puts the family in OH, where Elazer was born to Wm and Hannah.
1820, family still in OH, Charles W born.
1830, 1833, and 1834 show the family still in OH for births of James M, Hannah, and Silvester.
1835 shows migration to IN, with birth of Ezra to Marvin R and Julia A Goslin.
1838 - 1842 shows family still in IN with births of:
Mora A, Matilda, William
1846 shows family in Iowa??? with birth of Hannah. Perhaps this is an error, or the family took a trip to IA, and returned to IN.
1847 puts them back in IN with birth of George W.
OTHER:
Clarinda's birth 1843 in OH shows BF Goseline family didn't migrate at same time as Marvin or William's families. Their location in same area of IN, and NY / OH connection strongly indicate there is a connection between the families.
Perhaps Charles Brown is son of BF's wife Juno, by a previous marriage.
Found no other Gorsline's in same township, or county of IN, and will check NY, VA, OH and WV.
