Try Walworth County Court House (often County Clerk or Clerk of Courts) in Elkhorn, WI for death record. From there - see who was the funeral home. Funeral home, if still in existance, may have obit in their records. Might be probate info - this would have relatives, their addresses, and relationship.

Walworth County Courthouse: http://www.co.walworth.wi.us/

Probate & wills: http://www.co.walworth.wi.us/Judicial%20Center/Register%20in...

If no luck there - look into what newspapers were in operation in 1961, and contact them.

Contact the cemetery itself - they often also have records beyond the information on the headstone.

Here is the death certificate number:
Wisconsin Death Index, 1959-1997
about Esther Mossler
Name: Esther Mossler
Age:70
Sex:F (Female)
Birth Date: abt 1891
Death Date:30 Jan 1961
Certificate: 002708

There are on-line sites where you can order the record using above info, or use it when you contact the court house.

1920 census says she immigrated 1909, Gunnar in 1911 - so look for a marriage record for them, likely in WI as well, probably before 1915, as child Marion is age 5.

Looks like Marion was b. in Chicago - so look there for marriage. Esther maiden name CARLSEN. (Note she is Swedish - so spelling is probably CARLSON)
Cook County, Illinois, Birth Certificates Index, 1871-1922
about Marion Esther Dahlberg
Name: Marion Esther Dahlberg
Birth Date: 15 Mar 1914
Birth Place: Chicago, Cook, Illinois
Ethnicity: American
Gender: Female
Race: White
Father Name: Gunder Dahlberg
Father's Age: 23
Mother Name: Esther Carlsen
Mother's Age: 23
FHL Film Number: 1288305

East Delavan Cemetary is located at 1000 Theatre Road,Delavan,WI. It is located at the corner of Bailey Road and Theatre Road, east of the city of Delavan, between Delavan and Williams Bay, just off Hwy 50.
"I am trying to find family descendants of Martin and Caroline (Timm) Haack that lived in the Milwaukee area. They had 6 children that I know of- Emilia (Zink), Friedrick Haack, Ernestine(Wegner), Maria (Nibbe), Wilhelmina (Zibolsky), and William Haack."

What era are you looking at for this family group? There are about 150 Haack and Haacke entries found in "Milwaukee's German Newspapers; an index of death notices and related items" (1844-1950). There are entries in the index for names like Ernestina (Haack) Wegner (1929) and other possible matches.

Gary Rebholz, compiler/editor
Milwaukee Wis.
gary.rebholz@gmail.com
Indexing Milwaukee's German newspapers continuously since 2007... helping family researchers collect evidence of our historic German-American culture.

Marion and Martha Dahlberg of Delavan

I am hoping someone in Delavan may remember the two daughters of Gunnar and Esther Carlson Dahlberg. Marion was born abt. 1915 and Martha abt. 1916. Their father Gunnar was a florist in Delavan and made his residence there from 1910. In his 1957 obituary, Marion is married to Mr. Rocker and living in Chicago. Martha is married to Mr. Tuzl and living in Walled Lake, Michigan. Even with these unusual names I have been unable to find them in Social Security, phone books, etc. Marion and Martha are my cousins. We are descended from a family from Jönköping, Småland, Sweden. As far as I know, only the girls' mother and my grandmother have descendants living in the U.S. Thank you.

Dahlberg of Delevan

I am seeking my grandmother's cousin, ESTHER DAHLBERG. When I was a girl in the summer of 1959, my family visited her at her home in Delevan. She was quite elderly then, so she may have passed away during the '60's(?) Esther was of Swedish heritage; she and her neighbors put on a lovely smorgasbord for us. Her home was filled with plants and clocks and I have warm memories of our visit. I am wondering how she fits into my grandmother's family. My grandmother was Anna Carlson Peterson from Smaland, near Varnamo,Sweden who emigrated about 1905. Anna's parents were Johann Carlsson and Elise Svenson. If anyone knows this Dahlberg family, I would be appreciative for information. Thank you.

That's okay!! I have a Thomas Stubbs in my tree. He came from England and then lived in Genesee, Waukesha County, WI before marriage and then for a couple years after marriage before moving north with the family. I'm trying to locate his family. I found a Joseph Stubbs (close in age)to Thomas and then a Joseph Stubbs Sr both in Genesee but can't assume they are his family so trying to find a connection. So frustrating! I need to catch a break. lol

I don't have a date for the Stubbs marriage but 1893 listed for the Dyke.

Paris Pettit Hubbard was a brother to Clara. I do not have a spouse listed for him.

Henrietta Sengbusch or Saengbusch and Carl Wlike

I am looking for the relatives of Henrietta Sengbusch, Singbusch or Saengbusch b 16 Feb 1865 in Pommein. She lived in Walworth Co. WI. She was married to Carl Wilke b 1858 Germany. Some of their children were born in Walworth Co. WI.

Those children with pre-1907 birth records on the Internet are Minnie Marie 23 Nov 1890, Henrietta Bertha 07 Feb 1895 and Arnold Louis 12 July 1896. Charles Albert Wilke's draft record says that he was born on the 8 Dec 1888 in Elkhart in Walworth county.

The family moved to Grant, Clark Co. WI by the 1900 census. Minnie married Pagenkopf, Henrietta Bertha married Counsell and Helen the youngest child also married a Counsell.

This is a marriage record for a couple with the same names who were married at the right time in Walworth Co.
https://familysearch.org/pal:/MM9.1.1/XRD7-YBL
groom's name: Carl Wilke
bride's name: Henriet Saengbusch
marriage date: 10 Sep 1886
groom's father's name: William Wilke
groom's mother's name: Caroline Landfatt
bride's father's name: Frederick Saengbusch
bride's mother's name: Huth
indexing project (batch) number: I00326-6
system origin: Wisconsin-EASy
source film number: 1275587
reference number: cn 199
Collection: Carl Wilke, "Wisconsin, Marriages, 1836-1930"

Based on dates of death Carl and Henrietta seem to be buried in Lomira with a Frederick Wilke who appears to be Carl's father. Of course people in this time frame often used different of their many names. So Carl could have his father listed on the marriage record as Frederick but the grave stone could say William. No one would have seen a problem. But those of us following do see a problem.

Newspaper death notices would be helpful especially for the parents of Carl aka Charles Wilke b 1858 and his wife Henrietta aka Hattie b 1865. Actually death notices on anyone would be great. Thanks for any help that you can give. Mary
Look her up on findagrave.com; someone posted her headstone picture on that site. Her son William is also buried there. When & where did her son James die? I have no info. re: Enos's death or burial, but I haven't really searched. If I ever get around to looking, I'll let you know.

Thanks for the reply. I am thrilled to hear from you. Josephine is my wife’s great grandmother as well. Josephine’s husband was John George and their first child was Francis R. (my wife’s grandfather). According to the information passed down to me Josephine had 7 children, possibly 8. Which one of Josephine’s children are you related to? Do you have a picture of her? I have copies of records from the poor house with her admission and death dates, the historical society also found the cemetery records.
Steve
srtosh@comcast.net
You have the same surnames as I do: Berger, Lange, Eiden, and from Jefferson, WI. But I do not have an Anna. My Eiden is Clotilda, not sure what her husband's name was off hand. She and her family stayed in the Jefferson area. Some of her brothers (Berger) moved away from there. A couple went to Chicago and one eventually went to McHenry County, Illinois.

I am wondering if Anna's husband and Tillie's husband might be brothers or at least related.

Lange - My Lange's family came from Rosin, Wisconsin. Minnie Lange married Wilhelm Hacker in Elgin, Illinois. W. Hacker was from McHenry, McHenry County, Illinois. Doesn't sound like our Lange families are connected. But you never know.

Let me know if you have any questions or think we may be connected somewhere.

mic

I know this is an old post, but I'll take a chance. My gr-gr-grandmother was Mary Lange, married to Christ Rohrbeck in Kankakee Illin 1864. I found what I think is her brother Wilhelm Lange, who lived in Will County, Illinois, them moved to Remsen, Plymouth County, Iowa. Mary and Christ had seven children, most in Will County Ill, then moved to Carroll County Iowa. They were all in 1880 census, then parents no longer to be found in Iowa 1885 census, but children were separated and still living in the area.
I also have Berger family in my tree. A Berger from Jefferson, Jefferson Co. WI married an Eiden. My gr-gr grandmother was Anna Eiden, from Jefferson WI, who married a Conrad (or Konrad) Daniel, and they lived in Beaver Dam. ( I think the Berger married to Eiden was one of Anna's brothers). One of Anna's daughters married my gr- grandfather Adam Schleisman who was from Lidderdale, Carroll Co. Iowa. This also happens to be where the Rohrbeck children ended up living after the parents were gone. I'd be happy to share what I can with you. Hopefully by now you have added to your information.

I am looking for a possible obit for My GGGrandmother Hannah Rockwell Hatch. She passed away on 17 Mar. 1905 in East Delavan, Wisconsin. Her Husband, Micheal Hatch, is Buried in East Delavan Union Cemetery. I spoke with Cemetery Officials and they had no records other than three plots were bought by the family. The other two headstones are sandstone and not readable. The Death Certificate states she is Buried in East Delavan. I'm hoping there is a newspaper obit to Confirm where she is buried. Any help would be greatly appreciated
Best regards Rob

If you go online to "Find a Grave" type in "Walworth County Cemetery" you can see the marker at the cemetery near Elkhorn. Most of the burials are also recored on this site.
Ed Nace was born in 1831 and died Nov. 01, 1915. He is buried in the Walworth Co. Cemetery. If you can not get the pictures of the cemetery, I will send them to you.
Good Luck!
I have been researching Josephine Riezinger. According to information passed on to me she died at the Walworth county Poor house. I made a visit to the Walworth historical society in Elkhorn Wi. They did not have much but did have two books that listed her name with the admission (Nov. 1910) and death (Feb. 1911) dates. The historical society also was able to locate the cemetery where she is buried, was not at the poor house. It is likely that she gave birth to a daughter (Dec. 1910) while in the poor house but there is no birth record to be found. Some things may never be known?

The genealogy index at the Wisc. State Historical Society does not seem to have them listed.

http://www.wisconsinhistory.org/vitalrecords/

They don't have every listing, so I wouldn't discount it. According to a tree I found onilne (unsourced), it says Ben Abson (d. abt 1870) married Charlotte Francess Hall (b. 1846 Englnad; d. 1911 Kansas) married in Illinois (no date given).

http://wc.rootsweb.ancestry.com/cgi-bin/igm.cgi?op=GET&d...

Is this the same family? Again, that tree is un-sourced and has over 38,000 names, so who knows how accurate it is.

Wisconsin in the mid 1800's was widely written about as being a great new land of opportunity. I have family that moved to Walworth in 1840 from New York, others who moved in 1865 from Massachusetts, and two families from England who moved to western Wisconsin in the 1860's and 1880s.

There are two Books about Walworth county you may try checking:

History of Walworth County, WI
http://www.archive.org/stream/historyofwalwort00west#page/n3...

History of Walworth county, Wisconsin ...
I am looking for any info on Henry J.C. Schultz, my grandfather. He was born 1884 in Burlington as where his siblings. Emma 1886, Martin, 1891, George 1889. Altho they may have been b in Racine co. I have a marriage between Charles William Schultz born 1874,aka, William and Hattie Wheelock 8-10-1899 but a census record shows him as being married before that. Their parents were Henry Schultz and Johanna Krueger. They would have left Walworth Co by 1899. Louise Schultz married Sam Sing 5-19-1891. Any info would be great. Thank you! Joyce

What a generous offer! Thank you so much.

I would like to have some information on Henry Banker, specifically the dates of his last two marriages. He married Martha E. Smith, daughter of Chester smith, on 10 Sep 1855, Racine, Racine, WI. Martha died in 1866.

Henry remarried about 1866 or 1867 to Mahala Harvey Ketchum. She was the daughter of Solomon Harvey and Sally Taylor. She was last enumerated in 1880. Henry married Lucy/Lucia M. ___ between 1880 & 1900. Other researchers say that Henry died 20 Nov 1908 and he was not found in the 1910 census. In the 1900 census the data shows that Henry was married for 46 years, i.e., 1858. Close to 1855. The data shows that Lucy was marred 32 years, i.e., 1868. She had had 3 childrem all of whom were living. Lucy was born Oct 1842 in PA, both parents born NY.

I did find a Lutie M. Banker, MALE, widowed, b. 1843 PA, both parents born NY in Elkhorn, Ward 3, Walworth CY, WI. I believe this Lutie was a female as the data says she had 3 children, two of whom are living. I have never found this information shown for a male, only for females. I believe I saw womewhere that Lucy Banker died in 1925.

If you can find the information, it would be helpful to have:

1. Date of Henry's marriage to Mahala Harvey Ketchum.
2. Date of Henry's marriage to Lucy/Lucia M.
3. Date of Lucy's first marriage & to whom, abt. 1868, and a copy of her obituary. Also obituaries of any of the others if it is not too much to ask.

I know where they are all buried.

Thank you so much for your assistance. I greatly appreciate it.
