I have a relative that grew up there. She states that she remembers the boat which was built when she was a child. The man thought there was going to be a world flood and so he built it and lived in it. Judy

My relative said you should try the Friess Lake Fire Hall as they have some pictures and they may have one of the boat house. She said also she had heard that he was Greek and wanted to replicate the ship he came over on. That one makes more sense.jr

Judy,

Your relative is correct!! There are photos of the ship in the Friess Lake Fire Hall. I went there and took 'photos of photos'. This is just such an intriguing subject that people remember, but not much else exists about it. I do have a story that appeared in a local paper that said this ship was 'visited' by Canadian newspapers, newspapers from around American and National Geographic was even there. I've tried (unsuccessfully) searching for it in National Geographic, so if you hear of anything, let me know.
