Great narrative! Your family used the German papers in Milwaukee on the occasions of family deaths (the names above). There are about 350 Hoppe entries and 50 variants of Leonhardt in the current index of these papers. The effort to index these papers has nothing to do with death dates, and everything to do with collecting some clear evidence of the culture of our 1st and 2nd generation German-American families.
