Hello... These forwarded emails (below) will tell you the reason I'm contacting you... I was pleased to learn of an actively searching member of the Brooks family. My grandfather was William E. Phillips, son of Phebe (Abbott) and Uri Phillips. Paulette and I have worked together for some years and she is my 1/2 cousin, once removed (I think). Anyway, her grandfather George Uri and my mother were half sister/brother.
I'd very much like to have correspondence with you. Have you followed back through Kneeland Abbott to New York State and all? I'm also anxious to know more about Noah and Lydia's move from DeKalb County, IN to Wisconsin... etc, etc.
Best regards.... Wayne Bracken (actually, Howard Wayne Bracken).
The Brooks' and Phebe were close while living in DeKalb County, IN and I feel like they kind of looked after Phebe when Uri "headed West". I believe Phebe's move from Indiana to Wisconsin was with the Noah and Lydia Brooks in 1855 (?).
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Adelia Brooks was the first child of Noah E. Brooks and Lydia H. Abbott. Noah E. Brooks was the son of John Brooks and Judith Robinson. (I have more information on the Brooks family if interested.) I do not know the parents of Lydia H. Abbott but she was born 02-03-1816 in NY or VT? She died 05-07-1870 and was buried in Hatton Cem. Waupaca Co. WI. She was Noah's second wife. They were married 06-26-1838 in DeKalb Co. IN. Children of Noah Brooks and Lydia Abbott are as followed: ADELIA b. 03-24-1839 DeKalb Co. IN m. 08-05-1856 to Sylvester Willis in Waupaca Co. d. 11-08-1918 Plainfield, Waushara Co. WI. MARTIN b. 08-25-1841 DeKalb Co. Notes for NOAH E. BROOKS:
Noah Brooks was born in 1799 in Greene Cty PA along the 10 Mile Creek area in Greene Cty, PA. Noah married a Rachel (no known last name..but maybe a Brooks cousin) and lived in Richland County, Ohio at the time of John Brooks death- John's Probate is filed in Greene County and states that Noah E. Brooks is from Richland County, Ohio at the time of John's death. Rachel died after my Simeon
Brooks was born and Noah remarried a Lydia from DeKalb, Illinois. Noah and Lydia died and are buried in Lind, Wisc. We found their gravestones in 2000 and in poor condition. The markers were restored. The BLA GLO records show Noah and his son Simeon purchased land in Lind in the 1850's.
