Hi, I am not related. But do have a little info. I seen the marriage posted here of Perry C. Smith & Lulu Voodry Preston. I have done research for a person that had Lulu in their family tree, and her maiden name was Boodry, not Voodry. Voodry must be a misinterpretation on their marriage record. Lulu married Edward Preston in 1893 in Outagamie County. Funny thing though is that I found what seems to be Lulu's death date in the Appleton Public Library obit index, and if this is the right Lulu, then her obit is listed under Lulu M. Preston, her other husband before she married Perry. Maybe Lulu & Perry divorced?
You can find Lulu on findagrave.com
Ruth Pokorny
--------------
http://www.apl.org/history/obit/index.asp

Lulu M.
That was a fabulous article and I do thank you for it. It was very helpful. There is one thing strange though in that I have a Veda Smith, supposedly the daughter of Oliver Smith and Jennie/Jane Sweet, who married Leo Zanfretta. She is not named as one of Oliver's children. Strange.
Thanks again
Peggy

I am tracing the Oliver Smith family, wife Jennie Sweet. Their daughter Hazel married William J. Hewitt. On the 1905 Census, the two couples are living together, with Hazel's son Harry age 16 so born abt 1889. Oliver is age 79 and Jane age 73. Perry Smith is a boarder, and he is a possible brother to Hazel. Anyway, trying to find the marriage of Hazel and William. If not that, then the deaths of Oliver and/or Jane/Jennie. Thanks for any help.
Peggy

I'm looking for a different family in the same small community with the surname Winske. In my search I came accross this site which may be of interest to those who are seeking relatives in Royalton. It's a map with the landowners' names written of it of Royalton Township, Waupaca County in 1912. http://www.historicmapworks.com/Map/US/480054/Royalton+Towns...
There are a few Opper names as well as Kapitzke names (which I think I read in another reply) here. If you go back through the menu on the site you can get to different years too. Hope it helps you in your searches.

Waunakee Tribune July 25, 1991 (Dane County, Wisconsin)

Carl F. Statz dies at 87; founded implement firm

Carl F. Statz, who decided to risk going into business for himself in the Depression-ravaged 1930s and went on to build a farm implement company that is respected throughout
Wisconsin and the Midwest, died last week at age 87.
He died July 18,1991 at his home.
He was bom to Anton and Mary Statz on Feb. 3, 1904 in Martinsville. He lived most of his life in the Waunakee and Windsor area.
He was married to Helen Fassbender, who died in 1960. He
later married Anna Marhank, who died earlier this year.
Mr. Statz made up his mind to go into business for himself one day in January 1930. Since he had always enjoyed working with farm machinery, this was the type of business he chose. He purchased the old Worringer Livery Barn on South Madison Street as the site for his new business and took on an International Harvester franchise.
Initial inventory was very small, consisting of only six or eight machines, including a 14" and 16" walking plow, a wagon, a manure spreader, a com planter, a Sulky com cultivator, a mower and a dump rake or side rake. All these machines were horse drawn.
Those early days in business were difficult because of the Depression. Often, a farmer who needed machinery didn't have the wherewithal to make the purchase. Many a transaction was made over the kitchen table where Mr. Statz and his prospective customer put their heads together in an effort to come up with a mutually agreeable price. Sometimes farm produce was thrown in for good measure. On one occasion, Mr. Statz recalled a farmer good-naturedly giving him two chickens and a dozen eggs so the so the deal could be closed.
Mr. Statz continued to build on the business, until his retirement in 1975. Over the years, the firm moved several times, and today it is located at the
(STATZ continued on 3)

Statz .Continued from page 1
intersection of Hogan Road and Hwy. 19, east of Waunakee. The firm of Carl F. Statz and Sons now employs 35 people.
Mr. Statz was a past director of First Wisconsin Bank of Waunakee and also a member of St. Olaf's Catholic Church in DeForest.
Survivors include a daughter, Eileen (Dean) Hahn of DeForest; three sons, Ron (Toni) Statz, Ken (Mary) Statz, and Dave (Dorothy) Statz, all of Waunakee; 18 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; a brother, William Statz of Waunakee, and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his two wives; a sister, Regina Maly; and five brothers, Louis, Frank, Tony, Joe and Leonard.
Funeral services were held July 20, 1991 at St. Olaf's Catholic Church in DeForest, with the Rev. Daniel Finnane officiating. Burial was in St. John's Cemetery, Waunakee.
------------------
Oshkosh Daily Northwestern February 2, 1956

Emil Sohrweide, Winneconne Man, Dies at Hospital

WINNECONNE__ Emil August Sohrweide, 50, died at 1:35 p.m. Wednesday at Mercy Hospital, Oshkosh.
Hi, I believe that I have one of Mr. Walbridge's old books. Actually nine of them. Please let me know if this may be of interest to anyone else. I looked into the value and their not quite "antique" enough to be worth hundreds of dollars. But just knowing a previous owner was a doctor/health professional back over a hundred years ago is pretty neat to me. I hope this finds someone else who thinks this is neat too. Thanks

Hi,

I am looking for anyone who may have obituaries or any other historical documents for some of my ancestors that lived in Waupaca county in the cities of Larrabee and then Clintonville.

Thanks in advance,
Tyler Radtke (skooter111996@gmail.com)

GREAT-GREAT-GREAT GRANDPARENTS
Wilhelm (William) Buss
B: April 25th, 1828 (Germany)
D: March 17th, 1907 (Wisconsin)

Fredricka (Friederike) Buss
B: September 9th, 1827 (Germany)
D: October 11th, 1908 (Wisconsin)

GREAT-GREAT GRANDPARENTS
Herman Radtke
B: November 1853 (Germany)
D:1938

Augusta Radtke
B: July 1859 (Germany)
D: 1948 (Wisconsin)

GREAT-GREAT UNCLES/AUNTS
Emma Radtke
B: August 1881 (Wisconsin)
D: ?

Ingust (August) Radtke
B: April 3rd, 1886 (Wisconsin)
D: ?

Augusta Radtke
B: 1888 (Wisconsin)
D: ?

Mary Radtke
B: March 1890 (Wisconsin)
D: ?

Robert Radtke
B: February 19th, 1892 (Wisconsin)
D: February 7th, 1980 (Wisconsin)

Herman Radtke
B: May 12th, 1894 (Wisconsin)
D: October 9th, 1963 (Wisconsin)

Carl Radtke
B: November 14 1896 (Wisconsin)
D: January 1987 (Wisconsin)

Ella Radtke
B: December 1899 (Wisconsin)
D: ?

Guerin half brothers and a mystery: Leroy James and Wm Jr.

http://boards.ancestry.com/localities.northam.usa.states.wis...

Above is a link to a thread on Wm D Guerin Jr's obituary, (his mother was Elizabeth McNinch) He is half brother to Leroy James Guerin (whose mother was Emily Waters). Their father was William D Guerin Sr.

The Cebrowski/Bagin clans descend from the Guerin/Waters first marriage through Leroy and Oliver.

To add to the STONE mystery (which Elsie and I believe is in error as we have solid data on Wm Sr) I recently received correspondence from Marie Guerin whose husband was descended from the Guerin/McNinch union.

In it, her husband's father, Oviat John Guerin, writes that his grandfather, Wm Guerin Sr., "moved from New York already married to Elizabeth Stone".

So now we have apocryphal evidence of a STONE connection from two sides of Wm Sr's family. Slightly fascinating, probably unresolvable!

My thanks to David S. for the actual marriage date of James Flynn and Johanna McCabe: Nov 13 1883.

The hunt goes on...
Oliver Guerin Magdeline Flynn

After some fascinating rabbit holes, my colleague Elsie Wilson and I offer the following theory:

James Flynn m Johanna McCabe in about 1883 in the Little Wolf, WI area. He was a very early settler up there.
They had 11 children, one of whom was Magdeline Flynn b.1898.

Magdeline marries Oliver Guerin b.1890, natural son of Leroy James and Armenia Bruley, in about 1915. Their first child was Vivian Flynn Cebrowski being born in 1916, then Nona Flynn Bagin b. 1919.

At about the same time, James Flynn dies and we find Johanna has remarried to Joseph Potter Guerin by the 1920 census and they have Vivian and sister Nona living with them as they were Johanna's grandkids. Later, in Regina Flynn Reetz's obit, Joe was referred to as a foster father. This leads me tho think about a significant family disruption in about 1920

As an aside, the image of the 1905 Little Wolf census makes it clear how the Guerins Flynns Kosmershocks, and St Georges knew each other--they all lived within one census page of each other.

Oliver's 1917 draft card has him and his family renting in Hevetia, Wisconsin and here's where the speculation starts: The original poster mentioned a family last name of STONE. Common enough name, but there is a Harlan Stone b 1865 in Helvetia in the 1905 and 1910 Census'. Could Oliver and Magdeline have known them or rented from them? That might explain "old family stories" that youngsters incorrectly remember and oldsters tell.

I can't find a trace of Magdeline Guerin after 1920 so it's led me to wonder if she and Oliver died together leaving the children with Joe and Johanna Guerin?

I don't see Joanna after the 1940 census, when did she die?

One thing I was wrong about in my first note was that Roy E Guerin and Leroy E Guerin are the same person...bad data.

I am looking for Waupaca Guerin descendants and information and will be in the area in August 2013 for a reunion. Do not hesitate to email at wsguerin@webjogger.net
My grandmother's mother was Evelyn Solum, daughter of Amanda and Ole Solum, sister of Irene and Herman. Evelyn married Ivar Carlson, adopted my grandmother Patricia (Patsy) and moved back to Sweden where my grandmother grew up. She then got married, had four children and my mother is one of them.

My grandmother just turned 85 and does not know much about her family. I know she would be very happy if someone could give any information.

Please contact me at akesson.a@gmail.com

Thank you!

I have no idea if any of you are still active but here's the scoop:

William D Guerin b.1826 Varick NY m Emily Waters. He was not an Indian but the son of Jonas Guerin and Nancy Ehle of NJ.

WDG had many kids including Leroy James Guerin b.1857 in Ovid, NY. He married Armenia Bruley.

In +-1865 Guerin's moved West to Wisconsin. WDG's brother John is my gggrandfather, his wife was Mary Ann Wilson.

Oliver was born to Leroy and Armenia in WI in 1889-90. He is my 2nd cousin twice removed.

As usual, there is madness in that the Abraham Bruley had 22 children! Two of the daughters, Armenia and Anna, married Guerins. Unless I have it all wrong the other Guerin was Roy E Guerin b.1879 who married Anna and had sons Oliver and Leroy. Like a mirror image family!

Ayers Family -New York to Wisconsin

I am looking for information on "Nathaniel Simon Ayers" born very early 1800's, his wife "Selinda" and his descendants; especially Marcellus Ayers born about 1844-1845 in New York and served in Civil War, Marcellus's wife Lydia M. Boyce (Boice), and his children Rutherford Boyce Ayers, Lily May Ayers married to Edmund Louis Russell, and son Jay Mertin Ayers; plus any children I am unaware of.

Does anyone have information on Nathaniel and his wife Selinda? I believe Nathaniel wound up living in Waupaca County, but I have no record of Selinda living in Waupaca county, Wisconsin.
I have never found a last name for Selinda.

Marcellus is buried in Wisconsin. He would be my great great grandfather.

Thank you.

Hi Anne,

I am researching all descendants of Jonas Guerin's son John Guerin and wife Mary Ann Wilson. He is William's slightly older brother and my gggrandfather. Any information on John and Mary Ann would be truly appreciated.
Wilhelm Klemp photo sought

I am a researcher of pioneer graves in Faulk Co.,SD- my home county. Wilhelm Klemp died in the terrible 1888 blizzard. He and his wife, Bertha Hahn, were from Waupaca County. I am in contact with a great grandson who remembers seeing as a child a small photo of Wilhelm. He has not found it among his mother's photos and the mother does not remember it; it may not have come to her with her mother's photos. I am hoping that someone in Waupaca Co. might have a copy that was given to a friend or relative that I might get a scan of. His Parents: Albert David Christlieb Klemp (1831 - 1919) and Louisa Friedricka Krenke Klemp (1833 - 1913). Wilhelm's findagrave.com memorial # is 84798755. I believe his tombstone came from Waupaca Co.; it is virtually identical to his grandfather's in the Zion Lutheran cemetery there. Wilhelm's findagrave memorial has a link to compare them. Thanks for any help.

Kent Gebhard
wecotaguy@aol.com
