Hello, I am not related. Just trying to help. RP

Have you tried to locate a baptismal record? Maybe Lois was baptized before being given up for adoption, and maybe there is some info on the record that might be useful.

Hi there, I am not related. Just trying to help. RP.

After you read this, I think you will agree with me that Joseph's parents were Albert Duchein and Mary Porlier.
-----------
The 1910 census for Joseph and Amelia tipped me off first. Joseph's brother Louis was living with them. I was then able to find the family in the 1860, 1870, & 1880 census. Joseph was a son in 1860, but was gone in 1870 & 1880.

1860 United States Federal Census : Oshkosh Ward 5,

Winnebago, Wisconsin
Post Office: Oshkosh

Albert Shine, age 48, born about 1812 Canada
Mary Shine, age 36, born about 1824 Wisconsin
Joseph Shine, age 14, born about 1846 Wisconsin
Josephine Shine, age 12, born about 1848 Wisconsin
Louis Shine, age 10, born about 1850 Wisconsin
Louise Shine, age 8, born about 1852 Wisconsin
Nancey Shine, age 5, born about 1855 Wisconsin
Eugene Shine, age 2, born about 1858 Wisconsin
Peter Kremer, age 26, servant
----------
1870 United States Federal Census: Rushford, Winnebago
County, Wisconsin
Post Office: Eureka

Albert Dushane, age 64, born about 1806 Canada
Mary Dushane, age 45, born about 1825 Wisconsin
Louis Dushane, age 20, born about 1850 Wisconsin
Louisa Dushane, age 19, born about 1851 Wisconsin
Nancy Dushane, age 16, born about 1854 Wisconsin
Eugene Dushane, age 11, born about 1859 Wisconsin
Jane Dushane, age 9, born about 1861 Wisconsin
Frank Dushane, age 6, born about 1864 Wisconsin
Amanda Dushane, age 1, born about 1869 Wisconsin
-----------
In this census, Alfred & Mary's daughter, Nancy, was listed as married, as should be, but she is listed under her maiden name, and her husband, Alfred Applegate, was listed as a boarder and single. They married in 1877.

1880 United States Federal Census : Rushford, Winnebago County, Wisconsin

Albert Duchien, head, age 78, married, born about 1802
Canada, parents born Canada

Mary Duchien, wife, age 54, married, born about 1826
Wisconsin, father born Wisconsin, mother born Michigan

Lewis Duchien, son, age 27, born about 1853 Wisconsin,
father born Canada, mother born Michigan

Nancy Duchien, daughter, age 23, married, born about 1857
Wisconsin, father born Canada, mother born Michigan

Eugene Duchien, son, age 21, born about 1859 Wisconsin,
father born Canada, mother born Michigan

Jane Duchien, daughter, age 18, born about 1862 Wisconsin,
father born Canada, mother born Michigan

Frank Duchien, son, age 17, born about 1863 Wisconsin,
father born Canada, mother born Michigan

Manda Duchien, daughter, age 11, born about 1869
Wisconsin, father born Canada, mother born Michigan

Louisa Duchien, daughter, age 2, born about 1878
Wisconsin, father born Canada, mother born Michigan

Joseph Duchien, son, age 4M, born about Feb 1880
Wisconsin, father born Canada, mother born Michigan

Alfred Applegate, boarder, age 24, single, born about 1856
Georgia, parents born Georgia
----------
1900 United States Federal Census

Name: Joseph Ducheine[Joseph Duchine][Joseph Duchaine]
Home in 1900: Oshkosh Ward 12, Winnebago, Wisconsin
Age: 54
Birth Date: May 1846
Birthplace: Wisconsin
Race: White
Ethnicity: American
Gender: Male
Relationship to Head of House: Head
Father's Birthplace: Canada Fr
Mother's Birthplace: Wisconsin
Spouse's Name: Amelia
Marriage year: 1882
Marital Status: Married
Years Married: 18
Residence : Oshkosh City, Winnebago, Wisconsin
Occupation: View on Image
Neighbors: View others on page
Household Members: Name Age

Joseph Ducheine 54 see above

Amelia Ducheine 42 Birth Date: Dec 1857
Birthplace: Canada At Irish [Cair]

Frank Ducheine 17 Birth Date: Mar 1883
Birthplace: Canada Ontario [Canada;Ontario]

Walter Ducheine 14 Birth Date: Apr 1885
Birthplace: Canada Ontario [Canada;Ontario]

William Ducheine 10 Birth Date: Apr 1890
Birthplace: Minnesota

Leroy Ducheine 5 Birth Date: Sep 1894
Birthplace: Wisconsin
-----------
1910 United States Federal Census

Name: Joseph Duchine
Age in 1910: 64
Estimated Birth Year: abt 1846
Birthplace: Wisconsin
Relation to Head of House: Head
Father's Name: Ameliaw
Father's Birth Place: Canada French
Mother's Birth Place: Wisconsin
Home in 1910: Oshkosh Ward 12, Winnebago, Wisconsin
Marital Status: Married
Race: White
Gender: Male
Neighbors: View others on page
Household Members: Name Age

Joseph Duchine 64
Ameliaw Duchine 52
Frank Duchine 27
William Duchine 20
Roy Duchine 15
Louis Duchine 58 (brother)
Tesse Polier 20
-------------
1920 United States Federal Census
Name: Joseph N Duchin [Joseph N Duchine] [Joseph W Duchow]
Home in 1920: Everett, Snohomish, Washington
Age: 74 years
Estimated Birth Year: abt 1846
Birthplace: Wisconsin
Relation to Head of House: Head
Spouse's Name: Amelia A
Father's Birth Place: Canada
Mother's Birth Place: Wisconsin
Marital Status: Married
Race: White
Sex: Male
Home owned: Own
Able to read: Yes
Able to Write: Yes
Image: 1004
Neighbors: View others on page
Household Members: Name Age
Joseph N Duchin 74
Amelia A Duchin 62
Frank Duchin 86 (son) (wrong age)
Willam A Duchin 29
-------------
Joseph's parent's were married in Fond du Lac County.

I'm trying to track down my great-grandmother, Hazel Biebl. She gave up my grandmother (Lois Lou Allen, married name Simons) for adoption several weeks after Lois's birth, in 1922. I know nothing about Hazel other than her name, but Lois told me once that her adopted mother (Amy Allen, husband Merton Allen) said that Hazel was unmarried when she gave birth to Lois.

Lois was adopted in August of 1922 just outside of Oshkosh, WI, in what was then an unincorporated community called Nordheim, from the home of a Mrs. Lindenstruth. The records were sealed and lost (I've been to Madison in an attempt to find any papers other than what I already have; nothing).

If anyone has a Hazel Biebl in their family tree, born around the turn of the 20th century (give or take five years), please let me know! I'd love to find her.

Hello, I am not related. I found an obit for J. S. Snyder in 1886 in the Oshkosh Daily Northwestern newspaper. There is also one in the Oshkosh Weekly Northwestern, which I don't have access to.

I also found an obit for Nancy and their daughter, Frances Sanders. Frances died in 1882. Their obits were in the Oshkosh Daily Northwestern newspaper. There is also one in the Oshkosh Weekly Northwestern for Frances, which I don't have access to.

Albert also has two in 1926. I didn't post them here in case you already have these. The obit states that he came from Madison County, New York. Maybe that is the same county that the Snyders came from? I couldn't find the Snyder family in 1850, even using soundex. I found them in Winnebago County in 1860. Hope this helps, RP.

--------
1860 United States Federal Census, Township of Utica, Winnebago County, Wisconsin, Page 62, Enumerated June 23, Dwelling 472, Family 443, Lines 10-12, Post Office: Fisks Corners

Indexed as Schmider

John Schmider [Schneider], age 39, born about 1821 New York, Occupation: Farmer, Value of Real estate: $1000, Value of Personal Estate: $200

Nancy Schmider [Schneider], age 36, born about 1824 New York

Frances Schmider [Schneider], age 14, born about 1846 New York, Attended school
-----------
John and Nancy Snyder were living in Utica in 1870, and as John Samuel and Nancy Snider in 1880, with both sets of parents born New York.
-----------
1870 United States Federal Census, Town of Utica, Winnebago County, Wisconsin, Page 15, Enumerated June 22, Dwelling 472, Family 443, Lines 10-12, Post Office: Waukau

Albert F Sanders, age 27, born about 1843 New York, Occupation: Farmer, Value of Real estate: $2500, Value of Personal Estate: $1000

Frances Sanders, age 23, born about 1847 New York, Occupation: Keeping House

Alberta Sanders, age 2, born about 1868 Wisconsin

Jessie Sanders, age 4/12, born about 1869-1870 Wisconsin

Carrie D Nichols, age 38?, Domestic Servant, born new York
------------
The 1880 census has Frances A.
Hi,
Were your Winneconne ancestors Roman Catholic? I ask because my Murphys were and were buried in St. Thomas Cemetery. I never checked beyond St. Thomas because I found so many of my Murphys there. I could not find an O'Neal in St. Thomas Ceme. Is information on the Winneconne Cemetery on line? I know Janet Eiler has done a remarkable job in providing info on the local cemeteries. She recently contacted me to say she may have discovered another cemetery with a monument barely visible above a cornfield. She plans to check it out this fall after the harvests. I'm eager to hear what she found.
I was so sure your John O'Neal married one of the James Cain/Bridget Murphy daughters and disappointed to find that not to be the case. The 1880 Fed Census of Oshkosh, Wi. shows James Cain/Bridget (60 /58 yrs), daughters Elizabeth (21), Margaret(25),son James(10), Son-in-law John O'Neal(31 b.Ire) and gDau Liza O'Neal (4).

On the Murphys:
Martin And Margaret Murphy (b. abt 1785-Ireland) had two documented sons living in Poygan. John (b. 1820 Ire)and James (b. abt 1824 Ire) There is strong evidence that they also had a son, Timothy, (b. 1816 Ire) who remained in New Brunswick. Also, a daughter Bridget (b. abt 1822 m. James Cain) and as you suggested possibly a son, William. I continue to look for concrete evidence to prove a connection for these Timothy, Bridget and William with the Martin Murphy family. I've found enuf superficialy facts to make the connection of Timothy and Bridget but no paper trail. Now I'll look into the posibility of William, I found a son, William listed to Margaret and Martin in Co. Laois, Ireland but not here-'til now.
I hope this helps. You'll probably have to diagram it!
Try sending to my email address again: rily1@cox.net
Thanks, MM

I tried to your e-mail but was rejected for whatever reason. My John O'Neil married Amelia Henrich in Omro in 1863. His sister Julia b. 1858 was married to Wm. Murphy in 1870's. Who were your Bridget Murphy's parents? When and where was Bridget born? The children of my Julia & William were Wm. P. and Morris (to the best of my knowledge). My William Murphy was born in Boston, Mass. My Julia Murphy died in 1909 & is buried at Winneconne Cemetery next to Elizabeth & Catherine Murphy (dtrs. maybe?). I've always wanted to find a connection in Winnebago County.

Hi Marilyn, I hope too there is a connection! John O'Neil is my gr. grandfather, and it was his sister Julia who married a William Murphy. They married early 1870's. I have sent for Julia O'Neil Murphy's death cert. in Winnebago County, and was thinking I should ask for William's too. I was there last year and did alot of research, but that was before the Murphy connection. I just discovered the Murphy connection this past spring. I do know that my Julia Murphy is buried at Winneconne Cemetery. My gr.gr.grandparents O'Neil (Patrick & Catherine w/4 children) were from County Galway and were in Poygan in 1853. We suspect they sailed to Canada, down the St. Lawrence, thru the Great Lakes & eventually to Wis. but don't know the ship or exact date; I just know they were in Poygan in 1853. So is the Bridget Murphy Cain you mention a dtr. of your gr.grandfather James Murphy? Linda

Thank you for your response.
It is very possible that Bridget had a brother named William. I was in Ireland attempting to research the Murphys but didn't get very far. The clerk at the Portalaois Catholic church asked several times if there was a William but I have nothing except the Irish naming system to suspect there was a William. It would be wonderful if this is a connection. My Irish may have come from Co. Laois to Miramchi, NB. It is there that I picked up actual documentation on them. They arrived about 1841. My gr grandfather, James Murphy, married Catherine Breen (M.1848) from there. His bro, John, Married Martha Cain, also born in Miramichi (m.1847). They and their parents, Martin and Margaret left NB about the same time-thru Maine, New York, and into Wisconsin. John Arrived about 1850 and James about 1852-'54. Bridget and James Cain may have both been from Ireland (census). They had twin daughters born in NB, Canada in about 1847 and a daughter, Mary born in Wis in about 1850.
while in Poygan, Wi searching for Murphy grave markers this summer I came across a child, william Cain"s marker He died at about a year and a half. Until then there were only girls in the family but I see another son born later- again using the census.
I hope this helps and I especially hope we have a connection.

I'm looking for a son of Daniel Schermerhorn b 1793 and this Daniel O may fit the bill. Daniel's unnamed son was b 1825 in Deerfield, Oneida Co NY. Is this a possibility? Census data from 1840, by which time I believe Daniel's wife Sallie had died, don't show any other young male in the household in Hammond, St Lawrence Co NY. So Willim does not fit. You are researching this through the Fosters. Is there any indication of Daniel's parentage through them?
Betsey

I would check records as early as Jan 1899, since he only needed to be around to get her pregnant, not the actual birth.

Hello again,

Albertina had 3 daughters, Martha, Anna, and Clara, and 1 son, Emil, by first husband Franz Below/Buhlow, and 2 children, Walter and Lillie, by her second husband, August Woller. (see 1900 census). I think August may have a son Herman by a first wife.

Albertina's 2 daughter, Martha and Anna, were also born in Germany. Anna was not in the 1900 census, but was on the ship passenger list with Franz, Auguste, and Martha. Martha married Albert Abraham. (see below)

Albertina has an obit in the Oshkosh Daily Northwestern dated 12/16/1944 and 12/18/1944. I don't have access to that year.

Martha (Mrs. Albert Abraham) also has an obit. (see below).

Obtaining the marriage record of Albertina and August (which I sent you the info in my last post), and the marriage of Martha Below and Albert Abraham, may have the place of birth in Germany. Albertina's parents may be listed on there too. Or detha records.

I found the ship passenger list of Franz, Auguste (Albertina) and their 2 children, Martha and Anna, departing Hamburg March 15, 1882, and arriving in New York March 29, 1882. The Hamburg list has a residence for them, but I can't make it out. I can send you the image if you want it.

Hope this helps,
Ruth Pokorny
---------
1900 United States Federal Census
Home in 1900: Oshkosh Ward 8, Winnebago, Wisconsin
Residence : Oshkosh City, Winnebago, Wisconsin

August Wahler (Wohler), head, age 55, married 22 years (34 crossed off), born Feb 1845 Germany, parents born Germany, immigration 1880, naturalized

Alberthine Wahler (Wohler), wife, age 42, married 22 years , 5 children, 5 living, born May 1858 Germany, parents born Germany, immigration 1881

Sibley? Note that I have also seen Albertina's maiden name spelled "Kuel" or "Kuehl." Albertina's first husband's last name was Below. Her second husband's full name was August W. Woller of Oshkosh, Winnebago, WI.

I am looking for information about Albertina, her parents, siblings, and any higher level ancestors.

If my information is correct, Albertina had at least two sisters, one being Minnie (Kuhl) Krohlow (married to August Krohlow of Lessor, Shawano, WI) and the other being Ulricka or Ulricke (Kuhl) Krueger (married to August Krueger of Navarino, Shawano, WI).

I can be contacted at rlkpackfan@aol.com.

Thank you for your help!

I am also related to the Beckers. This name was originally pronounced with an "ah" sound and later a few members of the family sarted spelling it Baker. Ida Becker is the sister to Emil August Becker of Wolf River, my great grandfather. Their parents are Johann Freiderick Becker and Wilelmina Marten. Herman Becker was born in Prussia and Louise Zowock in Germany. Wilhelmina's parents are Carl and Ernestina Marten, both born in Germany.

Would have been nice to have had them shown alphabetically, or if they had an index in the back, but they did not do that then, I guess.

Not many of the underclassmen are listed, although there are group photos of activities, sports, etc., along with those given honors, those on committees, etc.

Hope this helps.

I've found a 1900 census of Oshkosh Ward 11 ,Winnebago County, Wisconsin for Mary Bickford and her childern , from Myrtie M. Bickford to Mary's last child Earl D. Bickford age 11/12. Now Mary is widowed in this census . I'm looking to see if i can locate the death date of Manly Bickford.Mary's last child Earl was born Sept.1899 in Wisconsin and the 1900 census date was June 7,1900 and Mary was a widow by the 1900 census. So i figure Manly died between Sept.1899 and June 07,1900. If anyone that has acess to the cemetery records in Winnebago County, Wisconsin or just Wisconsin would they check to see if they can locate a Manly or Manley Bickford in any of the cemeteries? Thank you, Martha

My name is Tom and I am doing Murray family genealogy. I am interested in pictures of the Orin and Mary (Murray) Quimby family of Weyauwega - Little River area. They are buried in the Evanswood Cemetery. I have text information, but no pictures of the family.
I am also interested in pictures of the Herbert Cecil and Sylvia (Taylor) Murray family. Please e-mail me with any pictures. Thank you. Tom kamberus@yahoo.com
