I am looking for connections to my great grandfather William Thomas Hicks. He may have reversed his name from Thomas William Hicks. He immigrated from England around 1845 and settled in Wisconsin where he taught school and music. He married Lavina (Joliffe??)in Wisconsin. They had three sons and eight daughters.

My grandfather, John William Hicks went west to the Dakotas and was a fir trapper. He married a Souix indian, Minne Colomb, and this resulted in his being disowned by his family, or so I am told. I believe one of his brothers was named Samuel and may have died at a young age. I have always been told that I have no relatives with the surname of Hicks as all of the daughters married and changed their names. Any help??
