Classification: Query
Surnames: Roby, Bowes
I believe that my great-great-grandmother is a daughter of Thomas Roby and Sarah Kelly. Her name was Mary Jane Roby. She was born in Ohio in 1826. She married George Bowes in 1848 in Walworth Wisconsin. They settled in Mount Pleasant, Greene County, Wisconsin. George Bowes was a blacksmith. (see the 1850 census). (The 1860 census has them living in Lemonweir, Juneau County, Wisconsin). In the 1870 census, they are back in Mt Pleasant, Wisconsin. I next find them in the 1885 Iowa special census living in Hartley, O'Brien County, Iowa. They had 10 children. Their first child, a daughter, was named Sarah R. Bowes. Their last son was named Milton Ralph Bowes (my great-grandfather). I see that Dooly named one of her sons "Milton".
A recent DNA test through Ancestry.com matched me to Dorthia Dolly Roby, daughter of Thomas Roby. If anyone has any information regarding this I would appreciate a reply. Thanks in advance.
