She isn't the one in Wyoming, she was the one that lived in Wyoming and then moved to Texas around 1990. She was married to Laurel Kimbro, older brother of Russell Kimbro.
Seeking information and photos about 2 saloons southwest of Meeteetse, Wyoming.

The first was the River's Saloon, built, owned and operated by Henry Rivers. It was located along the Wood River just south of the current Wood River Bridge in the late 1800's and early 1900's.

The second was the Bucket of Blood, located just southwest of the current intersection of the Wood River and Greybull River roads, around the 1930's.
"Emily, Diary of a Hard Worked Woman." I have the book and I wish I knew more about her life after that year. If anybody has information or pictures please let me know. I am also a descendant of Emily and Olive.

Re: Mitchell's in Deaver Cemetery

I found a couple of newspaper articles on Mitchells in Deaver at wyonewspapers.org. The first two are for the death of Casper Mitchell and the last one is for Elwood's niece's eighth birthday party at Elwood's home.

W. Casper Mitchell
Deaver Sentinel no. 51 March 29, 1919 Page 1
The young people of Deaver had planned a dancing party for Saturday evening, but due to the death of Dick Mitchell, it was postponed indefinitely.

Deaver Sentinel no. 51 March 29, 1919 Page 1

Dick Mitchell Drowns In Springs At Thermopolis
On Saturday morning the community of Deaver was shocked to hear the news of the death of “Dick” Mitchell, who for the past year and a half has made his home here with his father, and who made many friends in this locality and the surrounding towns where he has worked.

On Thursday previous to his death he was a passenger to Greybull, but before reaching his destination a fellow traveler urged that he continue his way on to Thermopolis. This Dick did, and the evening of the same day found him bathing in the springs of that place. While in swimming, the water proved too heavy for him and he was overcome, going down three times before he was rescued. This was at 5:30 Thursday afternoon. After being taken from the water, first aid was rendered and he regained consciousness and lived 24 hours, passing away Friday night at 8:30. His father, W. E. Mitchell, Mrs. E. H. Mitchell, and his fiancé were at his bedside.

The remains were brought to Deaver Saturday on No. 29 and funeral services were held at the Parish House Sunday afternoon at 2 o’clock, which were well attended by sorrowing relatives and friends of the young man. The Rev. A. I. Jones conducted the service at the Parish House, assisted by Reverend Haupt at the grave. Many and beautiful were the floral offerings. The body was laid to rest in the Deaver cemetery and was followed to the last resting place by a large cortege. The relatives left to mourn his loss have the heartfelt sympathy of the entire community in their bereavement.

Casper William Mitchell, or “Dick” Mitchell, as he was lovingly and familiarly called by his intimates, was born in Holly, Colo., on January 16, 1899, and was, therefore, at the time of his death, just 20 years old. He was of such an engaging, affable disposition that he instinctively made friends wherever he went and on this account held a prominent place in the social life of our little town. Everybody knew and loved Dick Mitchell and everyone feels that, in his death, they have suffered a distinct personal loss. The shocking details of the deplorable accident through which he came to his death only serve to accentuate the sorrow and regret of those whom he has left to mourn his untimely end. Besides his father, W. E. Mitchell, he is survived by one brother, Elwood H. Mitchell of Deaver, and four sisters, Mrs. Mary Bell, Dillon, Mont.; Mrs. Mida Stall, Dillon, Mont.; Mrs. Nellie Stall, Dillon, Mont.; and Mrs. Myrtle Lapham, Jackson, Mont. It is with a “heart bowed down” that the Sentinel stops to lay this bouquet on the grave of its youthful friend and joins the community in extending to his sorrowing relatives a word of sympathy and condolence in their hour of bereavement.

Powell Tribune no.43 January 6, 1922 Page 4

On last Saturday afternoon little Thelma Stahl celebrated her eighth birthday when a number of playmates were invited to the home of her uncle, Mr. Elwood Mitchell, and a pleasant time was spent with games. Refreshments of sandwiches, salad, cake and candy were served.
You can contact the Wyoming State Archives and ask them if they have a death certificate for Ezra and possibly an obituary. If they don't have the obituary but know when and where he died then you can contact that counties public library and ask them if they can look up his obituary. I hope this helps you out.

You can contact the public libraries to see if they have local newspapers on microfilm. Go go http://www-wsl.state.wy.us/bighorn/resources.html#ask and type in your question. You can also contact the Wyoming State Archives to see if they have access to the obituary. I know they have access for death certificates past 50 years.

I am looking for relatives to Lawrence Scannell who came to the USA in 1865. He married Mary Barrett and they settled in New Jersey, the Montclair area. They had 8 children. I think Lawrence had family in Massachusetts but can't prove it. There was a family in the Peabody area with the same names as Lawrence used for his boys: John, Daniel, William,Michael, Eugene, Edward and Lawrence. It is possible they were brothers and names their boys after each other and other family members. If any of these names are familar to you I would love to hear from you.

At onetime they sent information to my dad via his brother Adrian Joel Dickson - it contained info and a picture of JJ's family moving to Wy from Nebraska aprox 1897 or so because my gma looks to be about 3 in the picture.

He was in Basin by 1917 and was still there in the early 1940s. His saddles are apparently well-known, with his trade mark being two burros facing each other (a play on his name).
I'm looking for the grave of Ezra Strong, born 1820 in New York State and died 1895 supposedly in Burlington, Big Horn County, Wyoming. But I don't know the cemetery. I've looked through all the Burlington cemeteries I can find on line to no avail. If you have any info at all on this Ezra in Wyoming, I'd appreciate the help. I know the 1880 census puts him in Cowlitz, Washington where his brother Solomon lived, but other genealogists on line say he died in Burlington, WY. Also there is no grave for him or his wife listed in Washington state. His last (3rd) wife was Amanda Ellen Earle Strong, no idea when she died, so info on her would be appreciated to.

Thanks!

Dean Fisher
Garwin, Iowa
I am willing to pay a fee, as well as postage and copying fees, etc. I an interested in finding obituaries for the following two people:

Flossie Marie Dorst who died 1 Apr 1986 and Otto Adolph Dorst who died 13 Jun 1985.
