Just encountered you mesage board enquiry. I hope this channel is still open.

It is likely that your Diana Osborn Parkinson was part of a Welsh family by the name of Williams with origins in Pembrokeshire, Wales, and a long history in Liverpool, England. If so, her maiden name was Diana Williams, and her parents were James Williams and Elizabeth Williams, and her siblings were John Williams, Joshua Williams, Leslie Williams, and Caroline Williams.

John Willliams was my Great, Great Grandfather.

I would appreiate an opportunity to compare notes with you. I would very much like to know when Diana Williams Osborn Parkinson came from England and why she chose Wyoming as her home.

Pushroot was a Shoshone phrase used to describe the grasses in the area. It was already in use prior to South Pass being settled.
The militia was formed at North Fork which is now out where Milford is located. O'Neil was the Captain. There is quite a bit of info on this at both the Pioneer Museum and the Museum of the American West. There is also a group of reinactors here in Lander.

The Pushroot Rangers were the Lander, WY, branch of the Wyoming Rangers. Lander was called Pushroot by the gold miners up on South Pass because of the produce grown in the Lander Valley. When the federal government denied the governor of Wyoming Territory the right to form a militia, he formed the Wyoming Rangers to protect the people. There were branches of the Woming Rangers in several Wyoming towns, including Cheyenne. With statehood, the Wyoming Rangers became the Wyoming National Guard.

Dorothy,
I see you are relatively new to posting inquiries on Rootsweb. When you post, it is important to provide some criteria information for volunteers or family members. The name Pedersen is SO very common, as such is Irene Pedersen/Petersen/Peterson. The name implies a Norwegian base (sometimes Denmark), because of the "sen" patronymic name. Since you are looking for her in Wyoming, the year could be from the 1800's to 2012. So post the persons maiden name (if you know it), their DOB is especially helpful, as is place of birth, year/place of death. This gives volunteers enough information to find the right one.

In this case you have a posted family tree on her:
http://trees.ancestry.com/tree/38499308/person/19736260584
And as you can see, the other volunteer found and quoted your own family tree, so that doesn't help you at all. Post the link to your person, that gives the big picture...

US Public Records:
Both Carl and Irene were living at 633 Cliff Street, Lander; but the database runs from 1950-1993. Bruce was not shown.

The Fremont County Recorder shows recorded documents re: Pedersen:
Order: 2/22/1994. The Baldwin Coon Addition Lot: 4 Block: 83 City: Remarks: the estate of Irene E.H. Pedersen.
Order: 8/23/2003. Grantor, the Estate of Carl Edward Pedersen to Grantee: Willard C. Pedersen, the property at: Baldwin Coon Addition Lane, Lot 4 Block: 83 City: Lander.
Deed: 8/29/2003, Willard C, personal representative of the Carl E. Estate; Baldwin Coon Addition, as grantor, to sale to another party.

Warranty Deed, 5/21/1993, to Bruce C. Pedersen
Warranty Deed, 5/25/2001, from Bruce C. Pedersen and Llewellyn Pedersen to another party. West View Park Addition #1, Dubois.

---It "appears" that Carl and Irene had another son, Willard C that was the representative for their estates. OR, there was a mistake somehow in identifying Bruce as being a son. I do not find further reference for Willard.
-- I do find Bruce in Fremont County. I find a Llewellyn and Bruce being in Casper, WY (Natrona County). www.zabasearch.com shows a Bruce C Pedersen in Casper. I'd suggest contact of this person to determine any relationship to Carl and Irene.

Fred Bragg who was original settler and partner of Noble in a sheep venture on the Nowood, later split with Noble who then became a banker in early day Lander. Noble and Albert Lane started the first bank in Lander area.
Fred Bragg who later became a JP in Worland wrote many stories of the early days. His son William Fredrick Bragg Sr became a newspaperman in several states. He was a prolific writer and his stories while being mostly true, used alias names for the real characters. He also changed places and dates. As he said, it was a dangerous business to write the actual truth back then in WY. Son William Jr also became an author. Some of Bill Bragg Sr's books can be read for free on Amazon.

I have tried to find an obituary for them but so far no luck.
Probably our Boyds are related. Mine started out in St. Philippe for only a year or so, and then ended up in Sherrington. Then Samuel Sr. went to Owen Sound in 1846 to join son William, with Samuel Jr. leaving Sherrinton about 1843 when he got married and going to Meaford, Ontario. I found a document signed in Laprairie in 1831 with a Samuel and Robert Boyd signing, but I think they lived in Sherrington at the time. I am assuming they were Samuel Sr. and son Robert. By 1841, Robert had gone to the USA but I don't know where. Where did your Boyds go? Maybe he went there as well. Some of my next generation (William's son Samuel) went to Michigan. I have written a couple times to a descendant of William's son Samuel (so many Samuels) who put out a message on rootsweb but she has never answered. She might be able to help me, especially if Robert went to that area as well. Son John as you know has evaporated. In 1847, John was supposed to be a schoolmaster in the lower province but can't find him in 1852 so perhaps he moved on.
Peggy

Hi Peggy...That could have been me on the Chateauguay site...
Thanks for the thought but...As for Thomas of Montreal...nope. In my research I have not come across any "Thomas" and only 2 or 3 times a "Samuel".
For me, "William", "John", "Andrew" & "George" are the most common names.

Also, for me, any Montreal connection is not a location where my Boyd's actually lived and worked. They were basically/mostly farmers in the Huntingdon area...Some lived & died there and some found their way to the states.

We'll just have to keep on hunting!...Mary Ellen

Boy-oh-boy, Peggy...You cerainly have touched all the bases I would think of! Sometimes our ancestors just seem to not want to be found. It is frustrating for sure!
I can see by the fact that we are the only 2 talking about "John Boyd" at this time, that there isn't much pertinent info out there...
Good luck and if I come across anything that I think might help you, I will send it along...Mary Ellen

I am not sure where the Boyd settlement was although I keep hearing about it. I have posted and posted on the Quebec research list, on the Oxfordshire, England site, on the Lancashire site, on the Co. Antrim site, and on various Irish church sites looking for marriages, baptisms, etc. I have ordered wills which have been very helpful although they only deal with one family at a time.I have searched many different church records in Quebec, and have been on the Quebec archives site. I have been to Ottawa in the archives and to Toronto. I have corresponded with various people and have made progress but there are still missing pieces. There are so many Boyd lines and trying to sort them out when a marriage record might just say John Boyd, bachelor married Martha, spinster without any parent or other info given, is a great task. I do have one advantage and that is that my Boyds were from England but a disadvantage that they always belonged to non-conformist religions, such as Disciples of Christ.
thanks for your help
Peggy

My Boyd's came to Canada from Ireland in 1831 and settled in Hinchinbrooke where they had farms on and around Boyd Settlement/Gore Rd area.
Maybe if you put out all the info you have on the people you know, onto other lists, someone else can help.

I'll keep my eyes open, too...Mary Ellen

Hi Mary Ellen,
Thank you for your reply. I was thinking that Gertrude's grandfather may be my elusive John Boyd but I can see that it is not. However, you have just tied 3 separate items into one for me. Were John Boyd and Martha Kelly married in 1876?
I don't recall having contact before but it was probably me, more than likely me, who was enquiring about Susan Boyd. I have just managed to find out who her parents were and some siblings, one of which was John Boyd, born in England, before 1810, and emigrated 1844ish, and was a schoolteacher in the "lower province" after that. He may have carried on to the USA as I can't find him in Canada. Neither can I find Susan's brother Robert who was in the USA in 1841, also born before 1810 in England, with a wife Anne, and a son. I have searched and searched for both of them to no avail.Perhaps if we found the deaths we would find the parents names, as that is how I learned Susan's parents, through the death record of her sister Jane Delmage in Michigan. Parents were Samuel Carson Boyd and Mary Lawson.
Peggy

Hello Peggy,

I have info on Gertrude but I am afraid her father, John, is not the John you are looking for. The obituary info you have is correct for her but her people were from Ireland, not England. Gertie was my great aunt, my grandfather's sister. Her parents were John Boyd and Martha Kelly, grandparents were Armstrong Boyd and Jane Howe.

I believe we have had contact before through the Huntingdon County website. Did you asked about Susannah Boyd?

I'm sorry that Gertie's father, John, is not yours. If I can help in any other way, please let me know.

Mary Ellen (Researching Boyd, Riel & related families in Quebec & US)

Recently, I found the obit of Mrs Gertrude Carrie Canning of Shoshone, WY and it said she was born in Franklin Centre, Quebec in 1885, the daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. John Boyd. I am researching the Boyd family some of whom lived in Quebec after they emigrated from England. By looking at the dates, I think my ancestor could be the grandfather of Gertrude. If it is the correct person, his name is also John Boyd. Could anyone tell me both names of Gertrude's parents and her Boyd grandparents? Thank you so very much.
Peggy

Hello and thanks for responding to my query.
Some information was left out of my query to protect anyone who might still be living.
Yes. I found out long ago about the difference between the SSDI and the SSA. Early on in my research I had some problems with mis-transcribed info at the SSDI. I have been digging for Texas records for Curtis W. for quite some time to no avail so my only hunch was the info from the SSDI. Most of the info you found I had also found and had eliminated the other possibilities I did not include in my initial query.
You did hit upon one jewel I had missed. It seems that the Curtis who married Jeanne Flannery is a distinct possibilty. I do know that he lived in Santa Clara, California in the '60's. He also may have been in the military-an M.P., I think. I will re-direct my reassearch in that vicinity.
Thanks sooooooooooooo very much for your assistance,

Carl

Re: Obituary look up please for Dana K Hagan

Bottom Line First: I did some record reviews and found Dana was married to Rhonda. Rhonda remarried, her contact info is below via www.zabasearch.com

The Social Security Death Index:
Dana K. Hagan, born 23 July 1952.

The Fremont County Auditor has one recorded document in his name and also shows second party as being Rhonda K. Hagan. This document was a lien release recorded in 4/1992. A second document under the name of "Kana" and Rhonda was the initial lien 12/1990. There were no property related deeds, power-of-attorney's, marriage, etc. These two documents were the only two under that last name.

The County Assessor shows no property under the name of Hagan.

www.zabasearch.com showed addresses and phone for Dana at several addresses. It also shows Rhonda K. Hagan at several addresses, some the same as listed for Dana, but . Laramie is in Albany County. Riverton is in Fremont. Casper is in Natrona.
--Albany Auditor/Recorder has no online records. The Albany Assessor shows no Hagan last name with property. I checked the addresses, not enough information on the owner to identify if they might be related
One address owned by Clark and Rhonda Guenther. A check on zabasearch identifies this Rhonda had resided at the same addresses as Rhonda Hagan, same age and the same phone number. Look up this Rhonda Guenther and give her a call if you are interested in finding out if Dana was the one you knew.

Carl,

Bottom Line First: Concerning the two "possible" candidates for Curtis, I suggest calling the phone numbers for them found on www.zabasearch.com. The names of the potential person's wives are listed below. Otherwise, you would first need to fully identify the son of Harry Blackmon from Texas records. His full date of birth would eliminate the wrong persons. He might still be alive. Thank you for identifying this one might not be correct; many go on just name searches and don't disclose the problem.

You placed other queries on this person:

Alameda, CA, April 29:
http://boards.ancestry.com/localities.northam.usa.states.cal...

Bowie County, TX:
http://boards.ancestry.com/localities.northam.usa.states.tex...
In this posting, you identified Harry Curtis Blackmon, born 1907 (Actual was 20 Nov 1907), died Feb 17, 1978, buried Red Bayou Cemetery and Vivian Gossett as being the parents of Curtis Wayne Blackmon, born 1936. Curtis also had a daughter "Sandra."
BUT, you identified you obtained the DOB from the Social Security Death Index, which means you may have picked the wrong person. The ACTUAL birth date of the son of Harry Blackmon is needed to differentiate any person named Curt* Blackmon... But, the "correct" person may not have used "Curt/Curtis/etc."

The Social Security Death Index shows four Curt* Blackmon.
1. Curtis Blackmon, born 17 Dec 1933, died 6 May 2009, "last residence" Fort Pierce, FL, SSN obtained Georgia before 1951.
2. Curtis Blackmon, born 14 Aug 1937, died 24 July 1994, "last residence" Houston, TX, SSN otained in TX in 1951.
3. Curtis W. Blackmon, born 1 Nov 1936, died 27 Aug 2006, "last residence:" Fremont, Alameda Co, CA. SSN obtained in Arkansas before 1951.
4. Curtis W. Blackmon, born 4 July 1937, died 24 Feb 2009, "last residence:" Jeffrey City, Fremont Co, WY. SSN obtained in Oklahoma in 1955.

The "last residence" on the SSDI is NOT necessarily where a person actually lived or died. The Social Security Administration calls it simply the "home of record," and possibly the address where correspondence by the SSA was sent. It is not necessarily where any benefit was paid to the person, survivor, or the lumpsum death benefit (in years past, it was paid to anyone paying burial expenses, family member, funeral home, city/county, attorney; today, a living spouse). It is sometimes the location where the notification of death was sent to the SSA, sometimes where the lump sum death benefit was sent. The SSDI is also NOT the SSA's database, but data sold to genealogy companies and private individuals from the SSA's "Death Master File." The "DMF" has more information such as name changes, some have parents, etc. It is used by the SSA, the IRS and other government agencies to detect fraud.

A Curtis W. Blackmon that married Jeanne M. Flannery on 2 Nov 1963 in Santa Clara Co., CA. He was 26, she 21. A family tree identifies him as the Curtis Blackmon, born 14 Aug 1937 in Houston, died 24 July 1994 in Houston. Father was a Curtis Blackmon, 1914 to 1994.

Individual #4, was identified as Curtis Wayne Blackmon, residing at 1805 Ferguson, Fort Worth, TX, (Date between 1950 and 1993),
AND, at PO Box 416, Jeffrey City, WY in 1990.
Also at 1805 Ferguson was a Patricia Blackmon. Patricia also showed an address of PO Box 319, Sasakwa, Oklahoma in 1989.
--The Fremont County Auditor only identifies a William E. Blackmon in the recorded documents. His mortgage indicated USAA, so either he or parent was in the military.

The Alameda County Auditor identified several recorded documents in the name of Curtis W and Carolyn F Blackmon. There was no document filed indicating "estate," etc.

WWW.zabasearch.com identifies a Curtis W. Blackmon, age 74, in Sasakwa, OK. It identifies a Curtis Blackmon, age 75 in Fremont, CA, probably the person above, with address and phone (could be still contact with Carolyn). It identifies a Curtis Wayne Blackmon, age 74, in Jeffrey City, WY, with phone number (could be still a contact number for Patricia).

Ask findagrave.com also.
There may be a photographer in the area that could photograph the graves for you.

You just register for findagrave.com, and put in a request for a photo.

I just came back from Mt Hope Cemetery and located Rob E Grooms burial location. The cem records showed that he died on 6-18-1947. It's unfortunate that I have to report that there is no headstone for the grave.

If I can help you more just email me.

I live in Fremont Co., I have researched Mrs. Fields before, for a David Harrison. Is this you or do you know him? If not I have researched both Riverton & Lander papers on mircofish and found no obit. I did find some info in the funeral book. Morton W. Fields died in Evanston and his body was brought back to Lander for burial. Mr. Fields remarried and had one son.

I also found other Fields buried in Lander: Charlotte Hazel, Charles Bryan, Hester (Esther) Leinella, Margurette & Chester. I'm going over to Lander soon to do research & cemetery headstone photos.

Let me know what you would like. Please contact me directly rocgen6811@optimum.net Lynn
