Samuel E. Upton, former Sheridan city building inspector, died Saturday at the Sheridan VA Hospital.
He was born 25 Mar 1900 at Carneyville. He served in the US NAVY in WWI. He served as foreman at the Monarch Coal Mine until it was closed. In 1954 he moved Sheridan and later was appointed city building inspector.
In addition to his widow Alice, at the family home at 212 W. Luocks, he is survived by two daughters, Mrs. James (Margaret) Hamstreet, and Dorothy Nalivka, Bellingham, WA: and two sons, Walter, Wheaton, IL , Arthur, Bellfast ME.
Funeral services will be Wednesday 11 a. m. from Ferris Funeral Home with Rev. Kenneth Rice officiating. Interment in Custer National Cemetery.
Memorials may benefit the Shrine Crippled Childrens Hospital in care of Van Wilson or Daughters of the Nile.
