My grandmother Anica Tavčar (married Gartnar) had a brother Franc Tavčar, borned on 8. oktober 1886 in Sveti Lenart near Škofja Loka. His father was Martin Tavčar, mother Marija Kržišnik. In december 1906 he come in Rock Springs (Wyoming). At the start he worked in mine.His last known job (at least as I know) was salesman.
In USA his name was Frank Tavčar or Taucher. He dayed on 11. oktober 1945 in Hines Veterans Hospital,Chicago. He was some kind a writter, acter and he was active in workers political movement. About the "Deutscher/Tavcar" linguistic connection I have another possible interpretation. Here in Slovenia is village in the hills surrounding Selška dolina (near Škofja Loka), called Davča. The surename Tavčar maybe meens a man, who comes from Davča (Davčar/Tavčar).
