Hi! I had posted that so long ago that I had forgotten about it. Yes, I'm still looking for info on the Prevo/Arnold family. William Henry Prevo was my father's 1/2 brother. Thank you for providing my where he is buried. I met him once or twice when I was a child. I believe my father visited him after he ran away from home and looked him up in Wyoming. I have very little info. He was married at one time to a Jane F. and they lived in Natrona, WY in 1930. His mother was Stella (or Estelle) Arnold. She died before I was born. Her husband at that time was married to my Jack Ginn, my father's father. There were several 1/2 sisters: Golda in Chariton, Iowa, Beulah (Spenser Cook, Richland, NY), Lila Harmes, Lulu Vincent(Fulton, NY), Myrtle (Chittenango, NY). All are deceased. My father had 2 brothers, Robert Ginn (suicide at 19), Glen Ginn (deceased). My Dad, Lewis, died in 1990. My e-mail address is cdecapio@cfl.rr.com. Would love to have any info you wish to share. Thanks for responding.
Are you still looking for information re: William Henry (Bill) Prevo?
I have been researching the Arnold/Jacobs family (Alva Bert Arnold/Altha Mabel Jacobs) and recently started restoring a photo album that my G-grandmother Mabel passed on to her oldest daughter, my grandmother, Zula Arnold Anderson.

There are a few photos of Bill and his family. I was told that 16 year old Bill Prevo visited his uncle Bert at his homestead in the Upper No Wood area and then settled in or near Ten Sleep, later moving to Casper and later to the Manderson area. He is buried in the Ten Sleep Cemetery.

I also have (too few) photos of the extended Arnold families taken 7/25/1925 - they are in pretty good shape for being 85+ years old. I'd be happy to share.
Dooley's McNiel

I am working on my Dooley genealogy again. Looking for my Dooleys that went West! They stopped a few years in Fannin County Texas. Then they were in Gavin Oklahoma and Park County and Washakie County Wyoming. Also some were in Arkadelphia Arkansas.

Benjamin Franklin Dooley ( born 1848 Georgia)
In 1871 in Polk County Ga, Ben marries Lizzie Venable.
1880, 1900, 1910, 1920 Ben resides in Arkadelphia Arkansas. In 1930 heresides in Gavin Oklahoma with his daughter. He is a farmer, a grocer, and contstable into his 70’s. After his wife dies he moves in with his daughter in Gavin Oklahoma. She is divorced and runs a hotel. He died in 1936.
Benjamin Franklin Dooley has two children
1. C. Ed or Edward or Edwin Dooley (13 Mar 1874 ) lived in Bonham Texas, he married Laura (McNiel). C E Dooley Bride's Name: Laura Mcneal Marriage Date: 18 Dec 1898 I found this marriage record in Fannin County. He was a mechanic. He died at on 27 Jan 1922 at age 47 of tuberculosis, and is buried in the Dooley plot at Carson Cemetery, Fannin Texas. His father B F Dooley gave the information on his death certificate.
2. Jenny Dooley who married a Dickenson, and later divorced. They lived in Oklahoma. Jennie Dooley Dickson is buried at Oaklawn cemetery, Garvin Oklahoma. Dec 21, 1876 - May 19, 1956

After her husband died, I always wondered what happened to Laura McNiel Dooley. I think three of her four children were born in Fannin County Texas
I found a birth certificate of a child- Benjamin Franklin Dooley, born 1910 in Texas. The birth certificate information where she filed to get the one from Texas, states she had a total of 4 children and one had died.
In the 1930 census I think I found her in Sayre, Beckham, Oklahoma
https://familysearch.org/pal:/MM9.1.1/XCQY-8L1
Lara Duley widow born 1879 Tennessee
Benjamine F Duley 20 born abt 1910 Texas father born in Arkansas, mother in Tennessee
Leonard E Duley 16 born abt 1914Texas father born in Arkansas, mother in Tennessee
Christine Duley 14 born abt 1916 Texas father born in Arkansas, mother in Tennessee
Cecil R Duley 8 born abt 1921Colorado father born in Arkansas, mother in Tennessee

In 1940 I think I found her in Park Wyoming.
https://familysearch.org/pal:/MM9.1.1/VT4B-M51 Family Number: 4 Sheet Number and Letter: 1ALine Number: 11
Residence in 1935: Rural, Roger Mills, Oklahoma
Laura Dooley 69 Born Tennessee, Cecil R. Dooley 18 Colorado

Ben in 1940 is living in Park, Wyoming, United States https://familysearch.org/pal:/MM9.1.1/VT4Y-YNH Family Number: 30
Sheet Number and Letter: 2A Line Number: 23
Born 1910 Texas , he has a family.

I found Christine Dooley in 1940 is living in Washakie, Wyoming
https://familysearch.org/pal:/MM9.1.1/VTHM-P3C
24 divorced female waitress, lodger born 1916 in Texas. It states she was also living there in 1935. She later marries and dies in a car wreck in the 40’s.

I think this is the correct family. Does anyone know someone who researches this line?
This would answer a lot of my questions as to what happened to these people.
I see you've posted only 55 messages on Rootsweb. It is helpful to identify the date of birth of the person you seek (In his case also her husbands name). BUT, Your family tree shows Pearl Jensen and her 2007 obit. It identifies the names you posted.

I'd suggest running those names on www.zabasearch.com to search for them. I found Karen immediately and you only need one to find the others, give her a call. Genealogy sometimes is nothing but common sense. If you want to find someone and you know where they live, use a phone finder online, or call 1-(their area code for that town)-555-1212.

John Moses was shown as an innkeeper when William was born, a shopkeeper when Ann was born and finally a farmer of Llwyncelyn when John was born.

T O Evans in his book Roots & Branches states that William and Margaret started their married life at Wernfawr, Ysclydach, Sennybridge.

In the 1871 census, William and Margaret farm Llwyncelyn [87 acres], they have four children living at home, Ann[14], Elizabeth [8], William [4] and Margaretta [2].

In the 1871 census David with his elder sister Catherine and elder brother Watkin are living at Pentwyn , a farm of about 100 acres.

David emigrated to the USA in 1879 arriving in New York from Liverpool on the "Erin" owned by the National Shipping line, it sank in late 1889

In the USA census of 1880, David Moses (22), is living and working with his cousin, Henry Evan Lewis who is trading under his own name in Cleveland, Ohio.

On the 1st March 1885 David is recorded as a farmer in Pyke County, Kansas

In the 1900 USA census David has moved to Ten Sleep, Wyoming, has married Adele Ashwill and has established a large family, David is stated to be a farmer.

David met an untimely end on the 1 Nov 1901 in a horse and conveyance in a gulch outside of Ten Sleep, which used to be known as Moses Gulch. He was in his early 40's.

Faye Moses Bell writes "David Moses, from all reports, was a very courageous man. In the era which he moved a flock of sheep, it was cattle country and the vigilante met him at a creek near Ten Sleep and warned him not to cross! He waved his hand in the air, plunged his horse and sheep into the creek and shouted, "Who's to stop me!" The vigilante rode away. He managed to live there for 10 years before being killed in the incident I told you about. Also, I guess he was quick witted and everyone either hated or loved him, he was too much spirit for the rest and red haired to boot! Like waving a red flag in front of the bull

David bought his sisters, Ann and Elizabeth, to Kansas on two separate return trips from Wales
In the 1920 USA census Edna, married to Walter C Fergusson
is living in Delta County, Colorado.
There are four children, all born Colorado, Lawrence [8]; Donald [7]; Laverta [4yrs 3mths] and Howard [9myhs].

In the 1930 USA census Edna and Wlter are living at Grand Junction, Colorado where Walter is employed as a railraod machinist. There are now five children Lois being born 1925.

In Arthur Moses obituary in the Billings Gazette, Billings Montana, September 25, 1971 it refers to his sister Edna Black of Glendale, California.

That is almost the full story I have to date but the Bowen family can be traced back to the early 1700's and other elements of the Moses and Bowen families emigrated to Trenton, Nebraska and New York respectively.

I would be delighted to make contact with you as would other UK based members of the Moses family if you would like

I am also in touch with Moses connections in Nebraska and Utah, though my tries at connection with family in California fell on stoney ground.

Please contact me direct if you wish on

r.evans441@btinternet.com

Regards

Roger M Evans

I found the obit on wyonewspapers.org. You can contact the Wyoming State Archives to get a copy of the death certificate. You can also put his name on findagrave.com and request a photo of the headstone.

Worland Grit no. 7
February 19, 1920
Page 1

William Denton Died Friday

William Carr Denton was born in Henry county, Kentucky, Jan. 19, 1852, and died in Worland, Wyoming on February 13, 1920, being 68 years and 24 days old.

On December 22, 1875, he was united in marriage with Miss Rebecca Patterson, with whom he lived a happy and useful life. Their pilgrimage together extended through forty years.

To them were born nine children; Willard F., who died when about thirty years of age; Isaiah J., Mary E., now Mrs. Afa Hattfield, but died at the age of 24; Carrie D., now Mrs. H. B. Paris of Worland; Katherine A., now Mrs. Fred Christensen, of Worland; James P., Worland; Mrs. Elma McNutt, who lives in Mo.; Mrs. W. P. Moore of Worland, and Goldie Lee, now Mrs. Elza Palmer, of Worland.

He moved with his family to Denver in 1903; thence to Neiber, Wyo., in 1906, where he engaged in farming. His health failing him about two years ago, he moved to Worland where he passed the remainder of his days.

Last summer he suffered a slight stroke of paralysis, and about two weeks ago, a more severe stroke, from which he could not recover. All that medical skill and kind and loving care could do for him was done. But the summons, from heaven had come, and at noon, Friday, February 13, he fell asleep on the unseen arms, and passed into the great Beyond to meet in peace his Savior whom he loved and had served.

It was about 23 years ago that he accepted Christ as his Savior and joined the Baptist church in Kentucky. Six members of his family joined that same night, and there was shouting of the old fashioned sort. Before joining the church he faithfully took his family to church and Sunday School. He and his good Christian wife lived to see all of their children grown and confessing Christ as their Savior. He loved the old hymns and in the days of his health and strength was a good singer.

He led an active life. He was an industrious, diligent and honest citizen. Those who knew him best, believed in him most and loved him for his real worth of character. The ties of affection between parents and children were so strong that the children followed their parent into the west and were within easy reach of their father during his declining years.

He is survived by his beloved and devoted wife, seven children, a number of grand children, his brother, Abe Denton, and many other relatives and friends.

A good and useful citizen, he finished his course, he kept the faith, and hencfourth there is "laid up for him the crown of righteousness."

His funeral service was held in the Baptist church in Worland at 2:30 p.m. Saturday, February 14th. The choir sang "Nearer My God to Thee," "Safe in the Arms of Jesus," "Death is a Dream." Pastor T. S. Dulin preached a comforting sermon from Psalms 116:15; Precious in the sight of the Lord is the death of the saints.

A large concourse of relatives and friends followed the remains to the burying ground beyond the river, where his mortality was gently laid to rest in the comforting belief that as a devoted husband, a loving father and a useful citizen. Grandpa Denton has entered into that rest that remains for the people of God.

Her sister was Mercy who married Russell Winchester. They are in the Winchester Cemetery. Does anyone have a photo of them or their graves. I have a photo with Lucinda and a Mrs.Winchester beside her. I'm not sure if it is Mercy. But they were close in age.Even though it's my 4th great grandmother's sister ,I'd love to see a photo of where they were laid to rest. I live near Warren Pennsylvania where they were both born.I'll probably never get to Wyoming.

Thanks for looking up info on George. The George Dale that is in my tree was born in 1862 in England and died in 1955 in Thermopolis, WY. He lived in the mountains and to my knowledge never registered for social security, census or paid taxes. He is buried in a cemetery in Worland, WY. There is a mountain outside of Thermopolis named after him. Soapy Dale Peak.

Good morning Vickie
I checked census for Ivan and Leatha, 1910/1920/1930 without luck anywhere in Wyoming.
I did find 1920 somewhere in WY a Hall, Ivan 24 b Idaho, father b MI, mother b AK, grocery, with wife Leona 21 b Illinois, parents Ill, with Owen 22, brother of Ivan.

Otherwise, I do not see them in WY. I could use some birthdates, places, etc. I even checked Ivan and Leatha separately, without success. If he was born 1890's he would have signed up for WWI.

What other info can you supply? It seems they did not want to be found for some reason, and what better place to do it than the remote area of WY.

I checked my name list of those persons listed in notes and there are no Halls shown. Sorry I cannot be more helpful, perhaps with more info they may show up. Did they go by an alias? Like her maiden name for instance?
jim thoman

Whilst researching my own family in the Wisbech area I found the birth of Stella M Silburn (Silbern) in King's Lynn, Norfolk, quarter 4 1921. The father's name is shown as George Silburn and the mother's maiden name was Goodson. Kings Lynn is about 10 miles from Wisbech, Cambridgeshire, which is about the same distance from Doddington.Hope this helps

Could you tell me whether the book is available?

If not, could you scan the Wigwam (Burke's house) and other places in town....especially those that have names on them? We are looking for photos of the era of 1910 to 1925.

Is there a picture of Bounce? Or any of the people I listed in my post.

We have transcribed some of the letters, and would be glad to send them, if you like.

jim thoman
jet4312@yahoo.com
Jim,

Col. Burke was my grandfather. His parents were Milo and Bessie Burke. Col., and my grandmother, Gladys along with Milo and Bessie are all buried in Ten Sleep. He did serve in WWI, I know he went through basic training in Nebraska. The Wigwam was their home, a large log structure. The letters you describe in which he laments not being as popular as his brother Lynn intrigue me. I would love to see copies of the letters.

Lori Newcomer
St. Louis, MO
