Hi "pipamay",
You will find most GERMAN / PRUSSIAN folk had numerous Christian names; could be anything from three to five names and used one or more of those names and / or variations.
Check your AUSTRALIAN certificates to establish a correct birth year and for parent names, birth / marriages places and death certificates for how long they had been in AUSTRALIA (and each AUSTRALIAN State.
Knowing their religion will benefit in your search.
The PAULINE immigration appears to have been Ludwig & Ann Margaret KOEHNE / KUHNE as Mr & Mrs H. KOEHNE. (see immigration - newspaper -SOUTH AUSTRALIAN Register ADELAIDE 30th September 1846.
Once you establish where in PRUSSIA / GERMANY your folk were born / married you should find searching easy.
GERMAN records were very good, if the family remained in the area for a while you may find the family's BD&Ms on one or more pages of a parish register that can take you back generations. If a couple were from different parishes, a marriage was usually recorded in the parish register of both bride and groom.
AUSWANDERER sites are very good for researching PRUSSIAN / GERMAN families.
Your local LDS centre may be able to order in the appropriate films for the area you are looking at, if so, ask if they have someone available who can read and / or write GERMAN.
