I work at the Healdsburg Museum and we have the following entry in the unpublished journal of Harrison E. Nosler. I was intrigued by the reference. There might be a newspaper article too.

Go to town on business. As there is a large show in town, I go and see the sights, which costs me $1.25. I saw many animals of every description; saw the giants and Tom Thumb and wife. I bought a glass pen of Tom’s wife that Tom had made for the sum of 25 cents. I also saw the family with wool hair and pink eye and the circus performance, which was good. It was Cole’s Show.
