My GGG Grandparents (William Clifford & Mary Sculley) were both granted their TOLs at Campbelltown, NSW on 1 August 1840. They married in Campbelltown less than a year later.
I am trying to discover if the process for being granted a TOL meant that they might have both had to appear before a magistrate at the time of the TOL being granted. I would like to think that this is where / when they might have met as I have no other evidence of their lives overlapping until their marriage as they were working for different people in different parts of the district. Does anyone know what the granting of a TOL involved?
