Charles Cox (born c1830 Somerset,England) married Mary Tottle (born c 1831 Somerset England) in 1852 in Somerset, England. They arrived in Moreton Bay in February 1858 on the ship Irene along with their daughter Emily (born 1857 Somerset, England). The Migrant Board Examination record dated a few days after their arrival stated Charles' parents were named Charles and Ann and that he had a cousin living in New South Wales but no further details of that cousin were given. Charles and Emily settled in the Freestone/Warwick area and had further children (Thomas born 1859, Ann born 1861 and George born 1865). Charles Cox died in May 1866 when he fell off his horse in Warwick. Charles and Mary are the GG grandparents of a friend of mine who I'm helping research the Cox family. There is a family story that Charles is related to William Cox the land surveyor who built the first road over the Blue Mountains. I'm interested in hearing from anyone who may know if Charles and William Cox are related or may have further information regarding Charles & Emily's life in the Warwick area and more information regarding Charles' parents. Any information would be greatly appreciated.
