I think Lucie did probably take on another man's name, without actually officially getting married. She is probably buried under this name and I'll never find her. :-(
Yes, I did read the newspaper article in the NLA trove which refers to her alleged misconduct with George Hillard in Oct, Nov & Dec of 1913 (six years after she separated from Gustav) as grounds for the divorce.
Norwood George's birth was 9 months after this, in Aug 1914.
Whether George really was the father we'll never know.
Gustav was listed as the father on his original birth certificate (possibly by Lucie when she had Norwood), but on the copy in their divorce file held in the State Archive it is written to disregard this, that he was illegitimite. Norwood is now listed as Norwood George Riley, no father.
George was married to Lucie's sister Edith. They remained together and didn't divorce until they were living in Sydney in 1937. Perhaps George & Lucie got together after that...
