Does anyone have any information about what happened to my great-uncle, John Furey? He was b. 1865 or 1866 in Swineford, Mayo, Ireland. He arrived in Brisbane on 3 Feb 1886 with his brother, William. William left for the US, but John supposedly stayed. There is a family story about pearl fishing on Thursday Island, but I don't know if that lasted.

I would be grateful to anyone who can help, either with John Furey or any Fureys in Queensland. The Queensland library has been really helpful with websites, but I am out of my depth in Australian research!
