Have you seen Sampson's WWI enlistment, aged 22 and 9 months in July 1915? States father deceased, mother living at Ashlands, Moss Pit, Stafford.

Byrd Sampson William Albert : SERN 3260 : POB Stafford England : POE Melbourne VIC : NOK M Byrd Emily

Record is digitised at NAA Recordsearch.

I think 'Daisy Byrd' is a wonderful name! From Trove:

The Argus, Friday 17 December 1954
BYRD.-On December 16, at a private hospital, Daisy, beloved wife of Sam Byrd, of 27 Walker street, Moonee Ponds, loving mother of Ted and Vin, mother-in-law of Jean and loving grandmother of Robert, Lorna and Graeme, aged 63 years. -At rest.

So Charles Edward must have been known to family as 'Ted'

All buried at Fawkner.
