John GILLESPIE and Margaret SLOANE later had children born at Terang (where Frances was born).

Now, if Alice QUINN was born in 1873 then she could not have been James QUINN's daughter and she would not have been a really young unmarried mother of Frances GILLISPIE. But it does all figure in the confusion of surnames as a baby Alice QUINN became known as Alice GILLESPIE after her mother Margaret remarried.
