On the family history web site, there was a family of O'Brien's posted by a Margaret O'Connor of Melbourne, Victoria, AUS. This O'Brien family was originally from Limerick, IRE, and half of them migrated to the United States, and half of them migrated to Melbourne, Victoria, AUS. The family she posted looked like this:
Michael O'Brien, b.c1800, Limerick, IRE, m. Margaret Flemedy, b.c.1803, Limerick, IRE. Children:
Bury, b.c1840, Limerick, IRE, d.?, USA
Georgina, b.c.1843, Limerick, IRE, d. 1922, Melbourne, Victoria, AUS
Jane, b.c.1848, Limerick, IRE, d.?, Limerick, IRE
Margaret, b.c.1828, Limerick, IRE, d.?, USA
Mary, b.c.1824, Limerick, IRE, d.?, USA
Michael, b.c.1830, Limerick, IRE, d.?, USA
Rosina, b.1838, Limerick, IRE, d.5-12-1878, Melbourne, Victoria, AUS (bur. Melbourne Cemetery)
Sarah, b.c.1832, Limerick, IRE, d.1868, Melbourne, Victoria, AUS.
I am interested in anyone researching this family. Our ancestor is Bury John O'Brien, b.9-11-1843, IRE, d.1-28-1902, Washington, DC, who we know had a brother Michael who also came to the United States. They were primarily in NY, USA. Bury had a daughter named Rosina (did he name his daughter after his sister?). Bury and Rosina are not very common names and the time periods are the same, so I am wondering if this is our family, and part went to the US and part went to Australia. Would like to work with who ever is researching this line to see if we can connect.
If I don't respond here quickly, please email me, sometimes I get sidetracked and forget to check back.
Thank You,
Nancy Russell
