Looking for any information on a Charles Moreland that left Glasgow, Scotland to Melbourne, Australia (Son declared Charles' place of residence in Accessation Papers). At first thought ""Peggy" that went with him was possibly his youngest daughter, but further research has now made me to believe it was a younger sister. This is the dates and information I have:
Charles Moreland born 29 Jul 1858 in Dunoon, Argyll, Scotland; parents James Moreland and Mary Mulholland. He married Agnes Bell Hind 27 Feb 1877 in Dunoon, Argyll. Agnes died in 1888. Their children are Catherine b. 1878 and John Miller b. 1880.
Margaret Moreland b. 1871 in Dunoon, Argyll, Scotland; parents James Moreland and Mary Mulholland.
James Moreland and Mary Mulholland were both born in Antrim Co., Ireland. They married 11 Nov 1857 in Dunoon, Argyll.
The reason I know Peggy went with Charles is my grandmother said she used to have correspondance with Peggy's daughter/granddaughter. Margaret was in the 1881 census with James and Mary but not in the 1891 census. Margaret would have been 20 in 1891. There are no marriage or death records for Margaret in Scotland. I know there was a death record for a Charles Moreland approx. 1920-1935 but could not confirm because at the time I did not know his parents. I would greatly appreciate it if someone could loook the death record up and look at the parents names to confirm. Also if there is a marriage record for Margaret Moreland I would appreciate the info.
Thank you
