Rural township of
Logan, Victoria, was named after John
Campbell Logan, son of Hugh
Logan (d. Glasgow circa 1848-9) and Elizabeth (nee
Campbell).
Elizabeth and 4 children - John, Agnes, Marion and Daniel, came to Australia in circa 1852, after Hugh d. in
Glasgow, where is he is buried.
Daniel and Marion d. soon after arrival. (In
Collingwood and
Talbot, respectively).
John settled at Avoca Forest. The district was soon known as "
Logan" and eventually became the legal name for the area. (See 'Place Names of Victoria' by Les
Blake.)
Agnes m. Edward
Parker Morris of Dunolly.
My children are descended from Hugh
Logan and Elizabeth
Campbell, via Agnes and Edward P Morris. Their great grandfather was Hugh
Logan Morris, son of Edward and Agnes.
Correspondence welcome.
