Township of Logan & Logan family

Classification: Query
Surnames: LOGAN, MORRIS, CAMPBELL
Rural township of Logan, Victoria, was named after John Campbell Logan, son of Hugh Logan (d. Glasgow circa 1848-9) and Elizabeth (nee Campbell).

Elizabeth and 4 children - John, Agnes, Marion and Daniel, came to Australia in circa 1852, after Hugh d. in Glasgow, where is he is buried.

Daniel and Marion d. soon after arrival. (In Collingwood and Talbot, respectively).

John settled at Avoca Forest. The district was soon known as "Logan" and eventually became the legal name for the area. (See 'Place Names of Victoria' by Les Blake.)

Agnes m. Edward Parker Morris of Dunolly.

My children are descended from Hugh Logan and Elizabeth Campbell, via Agnes and Edward P Morris. Their great grandfather was Hugh Logan Morris, son of Edward and Agnes.

Correspondence welcome.

Surnames: Ferguson
My ggf, William Ferguson, born in Dumfries C. 1817 to Andrew Ferguson, lived at Preston, Eccles-Manchester, and London where he was bookkeeper for a bakery on Edgeware Road. In the 1890's we think that he inherited the rest of the family money and with the younger members of the family left for Australia. My gm. came to Chicago and claimed to be of the house of Annie Laurie and Alexander Ferguson of Craigdarroch.

Some on in New Zealand and Australia is now researching and buying materials I am looking at from the LDC church. Are you researching?
