My family tradition is that we are also descended from Annie Laurie & Alexander Ferguson.
My grandfather George was the 4th son of James & Margaret Slorrach of Forres. They lived in Nairn. George emigrated to Aus in c.1880 with two(?) brothers. He married Rosanah Connelly in Smithfield Sydney in 1893.
Tradition also is that the family fled to France after 1745 & returned to Scotland to settle in Nairn.

Alexander Ferguson and Annie Laurie. 1685

William inherited after his other brothers and took the inheritance and took what was left of his family from the London area to Aus. after 1888 and before the Queen Victoria Jubilee in 1898. William was an old man when he left. I have information on Clarke sisters in London but information is not available on what happened to them so I assume they also went to Aus. No letters from Aus that I know of but my side of the family had secrets and changed name from Dean back to Ferguson. Not sure what they were afraid of in USA.
My grandmother, Alice Annie (for Annie Laurie) remembered dressing her brothers in the tartan and Scot dress of Ferguson as soon as Victoria allowed it. She always said she was from the family of Annie Laurie. I am close to proof but am trying to get as much family history on this line to create multiple proofs for the 1700 period. - a difficult job.

The line then runs back to Charlemagne, Scotish Kings before Malcolm III, the Anglo Saxon Kings, and Prince Fergus of Galloway.
I assume to Julius Caesar, also.

Does any of this make family history sense to you?

Thank you for returning my query.

Sandeman
