Thank you Kellie for your help. Although I am learning I have done a great deal of research at several State Libraries including Melbourne, Queensland, the Melbourne Immigration Museum and the Chinese Museum with the help of many librarians. I have also detailed knowledge from various family members who confirm Walter Maa Louey was the eldest and was born in 1879 and died in 1962. I have obtained many documents to back up my facts. Yes Walter was known as Maa Louey and later as Mar. He had eight siblings and George was one of them. I met him and so did several of my cousins. I have researched the "Maa" name and its chinese character. It is a mandarin name. I have obtained Deed Poll documents showing Walter's siblings used the name of Maa , Maa Louey and later Mar. I do not have his Birth Certificate which is something I thought you may help with.
"Maa" became "Mar" not "Wah" which is a different family name. Research has advised that the "family name" is a little bit like our surname but was always was placed FIRST
