""According to the dates of the births.Charles Maa Louey was born in 1881 in Tasmania""
Do you have this birth?
According to 'which' dates of birth do you refer to?
What about the other siblings you mentioned that we found births for? (including Charles 1881 in VIC)
""From 1875. "Maa" became "Mar" later. A Mandarin name.""
Charles died as MAA LOUEY and there are many reports etc post 1875 with naming as MAA LOUEY,,so the name didn't change for everyone.
Do you think there was a family fall out and Walter changed his name to MAR?
I notice Charles will leaves alot to his 'wifes' neice and nephew but NOTHING to his own family (MAA LOUEY side) or his own neices/nephews.
Repeating the same issues about family names/surnames isn't doing anything.
Do you have Walters birth or death? or any of the childrens births?
Do you have his parents deaths?
To be honest the WAH LOUEY who died 1915 in Perth is starting to look good to me.
About the right age, same time of arrival, a son by the same name...
This WAH LOUEY appears to be buried with a Jane..not sure if it would be a wife or other relative BUT she has about the same year of birth as Sarah WATSON..(wonder if her name was Sarah Jane)
Chinese often changed their names...they added extra names to show their status.
I think you will find the MAA LOUEY and wife Sarah who had children in VIC and TAS also returned to VIC just after 1900.
Two of their children die in VIC in early 1900's (abt 1912 from memory)
So the timeline is fitting pretty neat with what you say about Walter leaving Tas about 1901.
You'll still need to purchase some certs to confirm your ideas.
Charles marriage/death certs might be a start.
