Surnames: KEEFFE VAZEY MCLEAN
I am in NSW, and I am interested in Private Albert Henry KEEFFE who was Killed in Action at The Somme (France) in June 1916. His mother was a Mrs R McLean of Ponsonby. I think he may have been a descendant of John James KEEFFE (a former soldier at Crimea as per my oral history) and his wife Ellen who arrived in NZ in 1865 on "The Armstrong". If so, then he may be a nephew of Mrs Julia VAZEY (alt spelling Vasey). I am a descendant of a John KEEFFE who came to NSW from Auckland in the 1870's, he was born in Ireland, he and his siblings came to NZ with their parents on that 1865 voyage. I am interested in any details about any descendants of the KEEFFE family, and I would like to share with my NZ branch as I have details of their Irish origins, and their US cousins as well as us lot here in NSW. Cheers
