Hi Rod _ I have searched a lot of records and certainly no sign of your Father at all - not even his Birth record in NZ in 1904 but I guess you must have his Birth Certificate !!
The only possibility that I can find is in the Sydney Morning Herald for 26 Apr.2000 where it shows:-
Victor Roland HARRIS d.21 Apr.2000 aged 95 yrs.

That age would match your Birth date but of course the names are not quite the same - funnily enough I notice that Ronald & Roland have the same letters with the 'n' & 'l' swapped around so that could be a typo error !! Otherwise many people have their 1st & 2nd names swapped around !!

Hi Kay - I can confirm that James Watson and his Family did indeed emigrate to NZ on the ss'Tainui'. The list is available on the findmypast.com website which is 'pay-to-view'. I notice that there was also another daughter who accompanied them.

i find him on the scottish census as a bugelar so i assume he was in the millitery.

My grandfather and nana were James and Ann (nee Marshall) Rhind. My father was Albert George Edward Rhind the youngest of their 7 children. May (Mavis) and Rhona you mention were dads sisters. The book on the "Charles Marshall" family provides details on the family of James and Ann Rhind, their childrens family and so on to 1992. I have obtained the telephone number of the person who put the book together. If you can provide an email address I will get permission to copy the relevant pages (over 400 pages in this book) that would be of interest to you. (Dads brothers were William James Rhind and Benjamin Rufus Rhind).
Two sisters have not been mentioned Winifred who died recently and the one surviving sister in Auckland.

i was looking up infomation on these message boards, and came across yours to my sister, we are both looking for information on the decendants of mary and james rhind. i have got the childen of james and ann but could you tell me the name of your grandfathers sister please as i have a mavis/may rhind as born 26/12/1923 and died 1998 also a rhona audrey rhind asborn 17/2/1927 and died 1996 both in naike huntly auckland. i found only 5 siblings so any more could you tell me who they are i would greatly appreciate this information. our parents or grandparents never mentioned any family . and doing this family tree my sister as found quite a lot i found a lot on the family in auckland. i hope you can send me the names any more also your grandfathers sister.thank you for reading this message. .......jean........

Looking for descendants of Benjamin Bagley (1845-1930) and his wife Ann, nee Grounds (1856-1941). They are buried in Hillsborough, Auckland with their children Amelia Bagley (1870-1956), Mary Bagley (1875-1960) and John Dudley Bagley (1876-1969).
I am researching their grandson William Bagley Smaill, DFC, who was a F/Lt with the RNZAF and was killed on 27 Aug 1944. His parents were Charles Stewart Smaill and wife Margaret, nee Bagley.

I am not sure if you are aware but some of Dr. Charles' possesions are at Howick Historical village. Including his old sea chest which he brought over with him from England which stands in the old school room.
Fitz-Gerald is spelt with a hyphen also :) and a capital 'G'

James Rhind who married Anne Marshall was my grandfather. I had no idea who my great grandparents were [on my grandfathers side] ... so thanks for sharing. James and Anne had 7 children. My father died in 1984. He has one surviving sister who resides in Auckland, NZ.

The "Marshall" family had a book produced, published by Evagean Publishing called "Charles Marshall of the Waikato whanau - 1830-1992" which will give you all the information re the descendants of James and Anne up to 1992.

I am researching my maternal family history and would very much appreciate any information on or about my maternal grandfather, Henry 'topsy-turvey' Turvey.
Henry was born in Leeds England possibly 1912/?
Came to New-Zealand, (nothing yet known with whom/how etc), met and married my maternal Grandmother, AVIS MARIE HAUGHTON, (when currently unknown), they had 2 daughters, CECILY MARIE , (my mother), and VALERIE AVIS. Henry worked as a Jockey and his earned the nickname topsy-turvy.
Henry died on 11th July 1965 in Auckland and is buried in Waikumete Cemetery.
Any information on his death notice or obitury would be appreciated.
Contact with anyone researching this family OR any other information would greatly appreciated.

Sarah Wilson = James Mckie

My connection comes from Sarah Wilson's side, Sarah was born c1867 in Workington. Her sister Mary Ann Wilson married Isaac Cormthwaite who is my Great Grandmother Lily Cornthwaite's mother

We new about the Mckies going over to New Zealand in between 1911 and 1920. Wilson Mckie came over to England during WW1 and visited Mary Ann Cornthaite nee wilson, My Great Grandmother Lily Cornthwaite born 1905, saw him !!

My Grandad has the Wilson Family Bible(with notes) and i also have 1841-1911 England census info

I only found this message board this week Please could you send any info, pictures etc you can copy and send, it will be a great help to fill in our connections

and Charles P FITZGERALD married Annie E PEGLER in 1868 in NZ.

i don't know where he joined.all i know is what he told me in 1962,that he was wounded at gallipoli and still pulled metal from his legs just before he died.i only knew him for 4yrs.all his immediate family has died and there is only a son in law and a daughter in law left apart from g/children.it takes time but i will get there yet.

James was b Glasgow mary ann b 1830 Elgin moray.
they married in 1851 inverness had a family and the last child b in scotland was c 1861 i am trying to find out when they came to N Z.
i see a james Rhind M to a Polly or Hera Rapihana.
they had a daughter Johanna Rhind b 1881 Naike Aukland.
could this be the same james Rhind who married Mary i have no death date for Mary.

I had no idea about the Historical Village. Next trip to Auckland there will be a compulsory stop at Howick. And I was aware of the capital 'G'. At some stage my branch of the clan dropped the hyphen and the capital. Makes searching that much harder. Thank you so much.
