Classification: Query
Surnames: James, Burnett, Gardiner, Ball
I am looking for any leads on the following in New Zealand:
Norman Hopwood James - my g-father
Samuel James
Sarah James
Marjorie Erskine Burnett
Phyllis May Gardiner - my g-mother
Francis John Gardiner - my great Gfather
Leo and/or Katherine Gardiner - G Aunt
William Ball (married the above very late in life)
Elsie Gardiner - ?another G Aunt
The areas in NZ are predominantly in Canterbury;Christchurch, Amberley and Rangiora but the family did spread to the North Island whwere I grew up.
Thx for any info. I can't seem to get ahead in my searches of late and I would be enormously grateful.
I do have marriage details for Norman Hopwood James and Francis John Gardiner.
The is also a reference to Francis John Gardiner being a soldier in 1919 in the Ch'ch archives which I can't seem to navigate on Archway so well. Accession/Record CH171 10349/1919
I am wondering if the James Francis Gardiner referenced in a 1917 achive is a relative? CH300 Box 5 GM 242/1917
I currently reside in the US so an in situ search is proving difficult. Thanks in advance for shedding any light!
