Dear Rosa, this is all the information that I have, so hopefully we connect and correspond to increase our knowledge of our ancestors. I have been trying to confirm the N.Z. connection given the rest of the family went to AU - so why did William go to N.Z.??

1.3.1.1 William John Atkinson (15 Oct 1842 – 1 Aug 1928) & Sarah Attwood (? - ?)
William was born in County Derry and apparently William had come across from Australia to NZ
William used to get regular remittances from the Homeland as had been sent by the family out to the colonies. He had been in New Zealand for some ten years before he got married aged 28 years at Southbridge in the South Island to Sarah Attwood, daughter of Thomas Attwood and Charlotte. He and Sarah had 11 children.

William John Atkinson (1873 - ?) married Eva Broadbent – 6 know children
Emily Elizabeth Atkinson (1874 - ?) married William Candy
Ellen Sarah Atkinson (1876 - ?) married James Spende – 3 known children
Charlotte Lydia Atkinson (1877 - ?) married Mervyn Lambert – 1 known child
Francis Frederick Atkinson (1881 - ?) married Jessie Campbell – 2 know children
Thomas Edward Atkinson (1884 - ?) married Mary Olsen – 4 known children

Mabel Alice Atkinson (3 jul 1886 - ?) married Walter Drinkwater and had children, Celia, Walter, Laurance, Grace, Phyllis, Florence, Robert and Dorothy
Marmaduke Atkinson (1888 - ?) married Eva
Albert Charles Atkinson (1890 - ?) married Doris Jones – 10 known children (Maybe 13 in total)
Henry Atkinson (1892 - ?) killed in Action in 1916 “Somme”
Ernest Atkinson (1894 - ?) married Mary Meehan – 5 known children
