I am looking at the Seear family who emigrated to newly-founded Port Nicholson,NZ arriving as previously stated in this thread, aboard the Lady Nugent, 17 March, 1841. William James and his wife Susan Goulding. They may have sent their daughter Annie back to England to stay with the pianoforte-maker grandfather - that is my conclusion anyway. The family moved from NZ to Melbourne, arriving March, 1853 aboard 'Elizabeth' with children George, 12, Frederick, 7, Ann 9 (now apparently returned to family in NZ), Susan Jr, 4 and James, 1 . In 1855, William has a carter business in Prahran, Melbourne but was thrown from his cart and killed on 31 August that year in St Kilda. Anything sound familiar? I'd be interested in anything more on this family.
