Burial of those who died on board immigrant ships?

Classification: Query
Surnames: Ollerenshaw
The Ollerenshaws were said to have sailed from Liverpool on the Indian Queen, 1 Nov. 1856, arriving at Wellington 30 Jan. 1857. They had a daughter, Hannah Ollerenshaw, who was born in the spring of 1854, Stockport, Cheshire, UK. I have not found a UK death record for her or any record in NZ. Around 20 children died of measles on that voyage and I suspect Hannah was a victim. Would the deceased have been buried at sea or would they have been buried at Wellington upon arrival. Apparently no actual manifest survives of this voyage and no accounting that I have found mentions the Ollerenshaw family but I think that is because they came with their own means and did not owe the government as many others did.
