"As a matter of interest, where could I obtain a birth certificate for my grandfather who was born in 1904, American Samoa?

All attempts to obtain a copy from the Vital Stats office in Pago have been unsuccessful. If I were looking for birth certificates for his siblings and parents as well, can you direct me to the right source please?" --OneSlickShoe[Posted: 13 Feb 2011 11:37PM GMT]
American Samoa Vital Records Office Information

Please describe the failures you are/were having when contacting the Vital Records in Pago Pago, AS.

I have gone through the bureaucracy and they are not as lenient as once were.

You can, of course, order by mail. Make money order payable to ASG Treasurer. Personal checks are not accepted. Verification of identity (i.e. driver's license or passport) is required before record will be sent.

1 order, 1 certificate. If you need more, order again...1 order, 1 certificate.

I was in Pago on vacation and tried to get 8 certificates and was flatly denied. I was told THIS OFFICE DOES NOT DO THAT ANYMORE.
