In the Enemy Aliens list of 1916, which lists all German subjects living in Tonga, there are Erich Ernst Arthur Schulke and his wife Helene Hedwig Schulke living in Neiafu, Vava'u. He was aged 26, a German by birth, an employee of Fritz Wolfgramm, a merchant.
Erich was born in Bernstein, Pomerania, and had come to Tonga on the 14 December, 1909.
Helene was aged 22, born in Vavau, a half-caste. Her parents were Friedrich Wilhelm Sanft and his wife Fifita Haliote Afu, who was one of the first Tongan Mormons.
Erich may have been related to Fritz Wolfgramm, and had come out to Tonga to work for him.
