Danish translation for "Johnson"

Classification: Query
Surnames: Johnson
My G Grandfather came to America in 1882/1883. His Americanized name was James Henry Johnson. We were told that his parents were Christ/Krist and Christiane and that mother & several brothers lived in Joliet, IL. According to the information I have found in US Census & Social Security information, his birthday was 22 Aug 1875. Any insights on what name he could have actually had in Denmark? He was supposedly born in Copenhagen. I have tried looking at the Danish archives but have been so far unsuccessful. Other suggestions equally welcome as he is proving to be quite elusive. Thanks
