Thank you very much for your detailed and informative response. 1860's Birth and marriage records in Wisconsin are few. I've examined a local Danish church records here in WI and they do not compare to Denmark's church records. I am unable to find where my gg grandmother lived in Denmark. Her marriage record is listed in our city records and a Danish church. The city record listed her parents names, but no place of birth or when she came to the states. She did have a son, but there is no record of his father or a marriage. This would have been before she married in 1868. I have found so many Danish records of our families in the Danish Archives which is wonderful. It is so frustrating to not know where Johanne came from. I was fortunate to find her 1875 death record. I went to the cemetery and asked how could a woman who lived and died in our city not have a record of her death. They dug out a very old file and we did find her. But again no place of birth. Not having a city birth record of her or her brother is really a shame.
Thank you also for the links you included. They are very Helpful. Your response is much appreciated as I thought I wouldn't get one. :-) Karen
