Hello and thank you for any information you can offer on the Olsens of Denmark: Jens and Karen (Hansen) line.

I am looking for the 1900 census + to verify Jens Olsen's income as the proprietor of a bicycle shop and how Emalie Elizabet survived her broken back after falling while ice-skating as a child. I am also looking for information on how the Hansens and Christensens connect, especially looking for pictures of Margaret Hansen of St. Louis Missouri USA who was married to Harry Hansen. There is a "Kyle" related to Margaret who sang in the choir at the Muny Opera, St. Louis, Missouri USA approximately 1935.
Verifying these stories would mean so much to my Mother, who is now 87 years.

Thank you for your continued information and if I may be of any assistance, please direct a message asking what you need.

Sincere regards!

wildm4nadded this on 16 Jan 2012
Please help me, if you are familiar with finding Danish immigrants to USA. Albert was born to Jens Olsen and Karen Hansen 8/2/1889. It seems they were about 27 to 28 at the time of his birth and at the 1890 census. I figure their birth years at 1862 and their marriage about 1885 as they had 3 children as of 1890. These names were found by another member in the following parishes: LilleSkesved, Ramso Herred, Roskilde Amt, Denmark. If you could instruct me as to how to find the census in Denmark for these parishes, I would be most grateful. Also, should these names be familiar to your tree: Jens Olsen age 28 Karen Olsen 28 Ane Petrea Olsen 4 Emalie Elizabet 3 Albert Torval under 1 yr had a quick peak at the parish register for the next couple years and found: Hans Peter Voldemar Olsen b 11 Jul 1892 Axel Johann Olsen 25 Apr 1894 I would be most grateful for any information you share. Thank you!

I am looking for the death date of Jens Aldolph Svendsen.

Hendrick Svendsen was the father of
Peder Svendsen (B. 12/Aug/1799) + wife Mariane Hasløv. They were parents of
JENS ADOLPH SVENDSEN (b.20/Jan/1832)+ wife Karen Cappelen, parents of
Hendrich Siegfried Svendsen(b.30/Jan/1866)

JENS was born in København, raised in Køge, shoemakers son, became a shoemaker. Last tracked to Presto, Tyberg, in 1880.
Does Køge have records for a person's life? (Besides Church Records) I have seen all censuses and read the church records for Tyberg, and Køge. Is there someplace I can Email in Køge or Tyberg? Tousand taks,
Nancy Mortensen Bentley

I used the online Denmark census site - http://www.ddd.dda.dk/asp/vis_husstand_uk.asp and found him here in the 1880 census:

Name: Age: Marital status: Occupation in household: Occupation: Birth place:
Lars Jørgensen	39 Gift	skomagersvend Klodskov, Falster
Marie Christensen	39 Gift	hans hustru Brarup Sogn, Maribo Amt
Johan Jørgensen	10 Ugift	deres søn Nykøbing Falster
Rasmus Jørgensen	7 Ugift	deres søn Nykøbing Falster
Edmund Jørgensen	3 Ugift	deres søn Nykøbing Falster
Agnes Jørgensen	2 Ugift	deres datter Nykøbing Falster

By 1890 he's not listed in the family:

Name: Age: Marital status: Occupation in household: Occupation: Birth place:
Lars Jørgensen	49 Gift	husfader	skomagersvend	Klodskov, Falster
Karen Marie Christensen	49 Gift	husmoder Brarup Sogn, Maribo Amt
Edmund August Jørgensen	13 Ugift	barn Nykøbing Falster
Agnes Marie Magdalene Christensen	12 Ugift	barn Kjøbenhavn
Dagmar Rosa Jørgensen	8 Ugift	barn Nykøbing Falster
Agnes Magdalene Jensen	7 Ugift	plejebarn Kjøbenhavn

Johan was the son of Lars Jørgensen and Marie Christensen and was born between 1870 - 1874. My great grandma was Rosa Dagmar Jørgensen but she died before I was born. My grandma said that Johan became a minister in Roskilde, but never said which church he ministered in. Now according to the census, he was not with his family in 1890 when he would have been about 20 years old, but he didn't marry until 1900, so I'm not sure where he was during that time. School perhaps? I don't know.

I don't have any idea why they all had different last names, but I know that they had either some foster children, or the children of a relative...but I'm not really clear on all of that.

Anyway, I do appreciate you searching the census records for me...I'll be so glad when they eventually get them all posted online!

If you have any other ideas about how to go about finding him, I'd love to have them!!!!!!!!!

Thank you so much!
Amy Nichols

This is probably the right person: I found him on the 1870 Census of Varpelev Parish, Stevns District, Praesto County, Denmark. (This family is also on the 1860 and 1880 census of the same place)
Jorgen Pedersen, age 1, child, born in Varpelev (born 1869)
The whole family on the census:
Niels Pedersen, age 41, married, Head of house occupation: "hoker" born in Stroby Parish, Praesto County, Denmark
Karen Marie Hansen, age 38, married, wife, born in Varpelev
Karen Sofie Pedersen, age 6, (born in 1864)child, single, born in Varpelev
Hans Peder Pedersen, age 3, (born in 1867) child, single, born in Varpelev
Jorgen Pedersen, age 1,(born in 1869) child, single, born in Varpelev
Anders Pedersen, age 4 on the 1880 census (born in 1876, child, single, born in Varpelev.
Plus there are two other children.
Ane Marie Fredriksdatter, born 1854. She is actually listed as their daughter, but she has a different last name.
Lars Niels Fredriksen, foster child, born 1879 in Varpelev.
I hope this helps. I couldn't find anything with the name of Stromsholt. It is probably a Place name, which I think you said.
Regards

You said the 1880 census said he was 10 years old at the time. What census was this?
I looked generally for Johan Jorgensen in Roskilde, but without luck in the 1901, 1906, 1911, 1916 and 1921 censuses.
Regards

Johan and Laura Jorgensen - Minister in Roskilde

Hello All,

I know this is a long shot, but I figured I'd post this here in case one day someone looks that may have some information on this couple.

My great grandmother had a brother - or a step-brother or half-brother - I really don't know - by the name of Johan Jorgensen (born between 1970-1974 and died around 1959) and he married a lady named Laura on 04 Nov 1900. He was apparently a minister in Roskilde, according to my grandma. I think they lived there a long time because they were celebrating their 40th or 50th wedding anniversary there according to an old letter I have. They did have children, but I don't know their names at all.

Anyway, if anyone may have heard of this couple, I would sure appreciate knowing about it. I tried looking up the churches in that area, but the only one that keeps coming up in a really big one (I can't remember the name off hand). I've tried calling them, but no one has answered when I've called.

Thanks for any information in advance!
Amy

MONDAY 5-17-2004

DEAR MR. HUGH WATKINS:

Thank you so much for your kind response.

Although I am not an accredited genealogist, I have been doing genealogical research as a hobby for 20 years and have been helping people find their ancestors. I live at 109 West 50th Court North, Tulsa, OK 74126-3130 (USA). I can not afford to have a web page at this time, but I do intend to set one up in the future. In a way my research IS related to dead people because the decedent is a lady named Svendsen who moved to America and then died--these people are relatives of hers but she only had old addresses for them.

The website you mentioned could be very helpful to me, but unfortunately it is written in the Danish language which I do not understand. If there is any way possible that you could send me an e-mail message that shows the names and addresses and telephone numbers you found, I would be most grateful.

Thank you for the time and effort you have given to help other people on these message boards!

RESPECTFULLY,

KEITH NORTHINGTON, Genealogical Researcher
