Okay, but how does mtDNA accomplish that? You can find out what groups you belong to genetically but that does not establish your particular specific ancestry. This must be done via research (or via a long history of private family records). You may find a match with someone who has done the research - but how good is that person's work? Is the research reliable? From what I've seen of online family trees, I'd say that's a c--- shoot. You are a great DNA match with your sibling, but you or your sibling will have to trace your ancestry before you can know specifically what your ancestry is.

Here in this forum you have encountered people who are capable (not me, the others) of accomplishing that research and seem willing to do so ... I'm familiar with the two other researchers who helped you here. They have skills far beyond mine - and probably beyond anyone you could pay to research this for you, yet you are signing off on this thread.
