About Mydummollegaard:
Mydum Møllegaard (Mydum Mill Farm). Located west of Øster Assels village.
On Google Earth search for the exact address “Møllebjerget 16, 7990 Øster Assels, Denmark “.
The wind mill was placed south of the road, but is long gone.

About the name Bach:
Derived from “Bakke” =Hill. Likely used to identify a family from a farm on a hill. Variations are Bakke, Bak, Bach (the last form origins from 17/18th century artificial name germanization by pastors). No proof that this name has a common offspring in Denmark.
So forget about finding a specific Bach-farm.

Seeking relatives. How do you define “relatives”? Descendants of Søren Christian Christensen (1873-1950) or descendants of his siblings/half-siblings?
Going back far enough we are all related:-)
Anyway this is a very time consuming project, and based on experience I’ll not support you in that.

Thank you very much for the information. According to the information that I have then....Christen Andersen Bach would be my husband's GGGGG grandfather. We are travelling to Denmark/Norway/Sweden in June for a month and would like to visit the family farm. All of his ancestors have the name Bach after then except for his grandfather, who was called Soren Christen Christensen Mydummollegaard (1873-1950). We would love to meet some relatives if possible, if there are any. I do not understand this grandfather's last name. What farm do we need to be looking for....Bach or Mydummollegaard? Are there maps on the internet that we can find these farms? Thanks so much for all your help.

I believe he is in this family tree. Only I would say judging from the census records thats he's born abt. 1753.

Thank you very much for the three census, they look like the correct family as Anders children were baptized in Svaerdborg.
I don't know Danish and have downloaded some words from the internet but I am unable to work out what Huusfader, Gaardbestyrer, Hans Kone, Aviskarl,Tjenestedreng and Huusfaderen mean. Are you able to help me with some of these please.

My Gt Gt Grandfather came to New Zealand in 1874 on the Reichstag with his family. Anders JENSEN was born 13 Dec 1837 twin to Anna Maria JENSDATTER in Lundby Praesto Denmark.
They had siblings Lars JENSEN born 18 Nov 1831 and Kirsten JENSDATTER and parents Jens ANDERSEN and Maren LARSDR Jens was born 1801 in Lidemark Praesto Denmark.
I am trying to find any living relatives in Denmark as the Jensen family has finished here in NZ as the two sons born to Anders died as 18yr old and the other one did not marry or have children.
I live in New Zealand.

I don¨t speak Danish but I can give you this information. The baptism is on opslag 212 and not 161. It says Ane Kirstine Rasmusdatter was baptized on 12 Jun 1803. She is the daughter of Rasmus Christensen and Ane Marie Pedersdatter.

I just saw your post and have found the following on Christian Carl Otto Sørensen.

He arrived in New York City aboard the S.S. United States from København on 4 Jun 1923, destination Bell, California.

He applied for American citizenship on 20 Mar 1925. He was single and living at 207 Fishburn Avenue, Bell, California.

In the 1930 census he is listed as Chris O. Sorensen living at 3686 Virginia Avenue, Lynwood, California. He is still single.

I have found no records for him after 1930.

Hi,

One of my ancestor's records give "Baldrup sogn" as his place of birth, but I cannot find a Baldrup sogn. Is there one?

Using the DDD...

In the 1845 census of Vorup, Galten, Randers, Jørgen Jensen gives his place of birth as Vinderslev sogn in Viborg amt, but I cannot find his birth there.

In the 1850 census of of Randers Købstad, I find Jørgen Jensen (39) and his family at Jordsmullet, 5. Rode, 387, 655, but now he gives his place of birth as Baldrup sogn, Viborg amt.

I cannot find any trace of a Baldrup sogn though...

Any help would be appreciated.

Need help with legibility

Hi,

Having discovered that this message board really works and that there are helpful people out there, I'd like to ask again. Can anyone help me decipher the attached parish register birth/baptism entry? It is the bottom entry on the left hand column of the page.

I am fairly confident that it is for my ancestor, Johanne Sørensdatter, daughter of Anders Sørensen, but I cannot make out the name of the mother.

Unfortunately for me, it appears that there are no less than 4 different Anders Sørensens having children at the same time in Gødvad parish at the time of the birth.

I have seen that.
One is named after his paternal grandfather the other after his maternal grandfather.

He could be a fosterchild somewhere - or just forgotten in the census.
There are many people missing in the original censuses 1787 and 1801.
I have a hole family missing in 1801.

In Aaby sogn, I find a Peder Nielsen born 30 SEP 1800 to Niels Pedersen and his wife (hustru) Ane Pedersdatter,

I think you should stick with this one.
Peder Nielsens son Niels born 1831 in Kasted Parish -
the godmother was Niels Pedersens daughter Mariane Nielsdatter from
Aaby Parish. - Peders sister!

At Peder Nielsens marriage in 1830 both he and Johanne are vaccinated
19 july 1813 by Bagger.
Bagger did not vaccinate in Aaby Parish - so in 1813 Peder must have lived
close to Gødvad Parish.

I have been doing my genealogy for about 18 years now and I rarely get stuck, but I am stuck now. Can anyone help me with a translation/interpretation?

Peder Nielsen (age 29-1/2) from Aaby sogn (Aarhus Amt) marries Johanne Andersdatter on 24 OCT 1830 in Gødvad sogn (Viborg Amt) -- Gødvad sogn 1814-1857 Opslag 151

In Aaby sogn, I find a Peder Nielsen born 30 SEP 1800 to Niels Pedersen and his wife (hustru) Ane Pedersdatter, so far so good -- Aaby sogn 1765-1813, last entry Opslag 33

I do not find a marriage in Aaby for the couple.

I go to the 1 FEB 1801 census of Aaby and find Niels Pedersen Kanne, "kone" Ane Pedersdatter and wife's half-sister Maren Nielsdatter on Opslag 144, but no sign of a child born 5 months earlier! I also find no death record for the child in Aaby!

Now, I go back to look at other births to the couple in Aaby, but the first birth I find is for a child born to Niels Kann and Maren Nielsdatter on 7 FEB 1802, on Opslag 34. The entry begins with a word that resembles "monogimus" (or something similar). FILE ATTACHED TO THIS POST.

I find more children born to Niels Pedersen Kann and Ane Pedersdater starting again later the same year in NOV 1802 and continuing through at least 1813.

The last child I find born in 1813 is also then named "Peder". I have not really seen two "living" children from the same parents end up with the same name, again leading me to believe that the Peder born in 1800 and who did not appear on the 1801 census died.

Can someone help me with the translation/interpretation of this? Is it a different couple or is it that he had a child with the wife's half-sister as well as with his wife?

I do not find another Peder Nielsen born in Aaby in a time fram that would have made him 29-1/2 years old at the time of his marriage in 1830. In fact, this is the only Peder born in Aaby between 1794 and 1804.

Christian Carl Otto Sorensen died on 17 Nov 1982 in Bell, Los Angeles County, California. He used the name Chris in the US.

He returned to the US on 13 Sep 1929 on the S.S. Washington on US passport 48782 issued in May 1929 in Los Angeles, California.

According to an unsourced family tree he married Mary Viginia Vaughn who was born on 15 Jul 1911 in Indiana.

There is a Mary V. Vaughn living in Bell, Los Angeles, California in the 1930 census.

Mary V. Sorensen died on 30 May 1989 in Bell.

Thank you so much. You do not know what this means to me. Everything you gave me I can match up with what I have from Ellis Island, US Census Reports & some burial records found. Plus what my aunt could remember. Niels was my grandfather. I have found so much on my grandmother's side (all the way back into France) but didn't have much on my grandfather's side. Semine was changed to Minnie when they came to America. The kids were changed to Christensen.
Again, thank you. Next year when I get to Denmark, I'll know where my ancestors came from.

According to the Danish emigration records the family came from Hjorring.

Christian born Mygdal, Sofie born in Sindal, Hans born Bjerby, Frederik born Asdal, and the rest of the children born in Skallerup. (but found them living in Bindslev on the 1890 census)

I looked up a few of the records -

Kristian Peter Kristiansen married Sofie Ulrikke Hansen 29 May 1885 in Bjerby, Hjorring.

Hans Kristian Envold (Edvold?) Kristensen b 9 Nov 1885 in Bjerby (opslag 10)

Kristian Frederik Kristensen b 11 Oct 1887 in Asdal (opslag 28)

Sofie Ulrikke Hansen b 26 Mar 1864 in Sindal. (Father's name looks like Hans Chr. Jensen to me, but I could be wrong - wouldn't be the first time.... Mother Sofie Ulrikke Hagen, Opslag 42)

I'm looking for any information on my Great Grandparents. Chris's parents (I think) Christian Christensen & Christina both abt 1845. Sophie's parents, Hans Larsen & Sophie Hargensen ? Chris & Sophie's children were Hans Peter abt 1886, Fredrick abt 1887, Julius (Sofus) abt 1891, Sidney abt 1893, Mine (Minnie) abt 1985, Nils abt 1898 & Agnes abt 1901. They resided in Thisted, Denmark in 1901, left in Nov. 1901 on the ship named Hekla and settled in Center Grove, Iowa, then Spirit Lake, Iowa. Sophie may have also been know as Karen Sophie Hansen. They may have been married around Jan. 30, 1885 in Oro Holback, Denmark.
