Jans Peter Aulstroupt was born in Copenhagen, Denmark,in the late 1700s.He had a brother. Jans was a soldier. Because he developed Rheumatoid Arthritis from fighting against Napoleon during the cold winters in Denmark, the King of Denmark permitted him to keep his sword because he had fought well and had to leave Denmark for a warmer climate.He was shipwrecked in St. Croix, the Virgen Islands and married Sara Jackson there. Among his children was Wilheim Aulstroupt, who later left and went to Puerto Rico. There he married and had children, including Peter Aulstroupt(Armstrong). Because the people had trouble pronouncing his name, Wilheim Aulstroupt was called William Armstrong.Thus, we are now Armstrong. Any info about the Aulstroupt/Aulstroup/Alstroupt/Alstroup/Alstrup/Alstrop family in Denmark would be greatly appreciated.Thank you.
